Foam Insulation How Thick?23 Jul 2004 20:51 GMT5
Good Day to All:
I have just had a cabinet built for my 150g tank (72x18x28).  I
understand that I should cushion the tank with some of that pink foam
insulation from Home Depot.  Would the 1/2" thick be appropriate or
Black Cap Basslet23 Jul 2004 19:13 GMT3
I just found this group.  I have a question.....  Anyone here have a clue on
the life expectancy of a Black Cap Basslet?  I have one that is going on 4
years in my tank.  He (gussing here) is at full length (about 4 inches) and is
bulking out nicely.  He has been in a 15 and now a ...

Pacific and Red Sea fish are showing up on Florida Reefs !  Please come to
my NG in the Yahoo system as I have posted articles about this.  This is NOT
a fluke !  These fish are really starting to populate Florida Reefs !  I
don't really see this as bad.

silicone sealant safe?22 Jul 2004 17:16 GMT3
I just made a nitrate filter by filling up a 5 gallon water container
with bioballs, sticking two pipes in it and connecting it to a
powerhead to pump the water in
I sealed it all, on the outside and inside with some white silicone

Reef-Shopping in SanFrancisco ?21 Jul 2004 19:17 GMT3
My name is Roberto, typing from Italy
I'll spend a week in San Francisco in September and I'm wondering if you can
suggest some good aquarium shops to visit. (The biggest, the cheapest, the
coolest, the most "reefed")
Aquarium pharmaceuticals test kit21 Jul 2004 14:52 GMT2
I just switched from a red sea nitrate test kit to aquarium pharmaceuticals.
The readings were substantially different (2.5 - 5 with old kit, 10 with new).
I suppose it is possible that the nitrate went up that much in one week, but it
has been quite stable for six months.  Does ...
Need help on finding aluminum sheet metal.21 Jul 2004 13:20 GMT7
I need help finding a aluminum sheet metal source.  I've tried yellow pages for
my area and asking around.  I havent yet gone to google to see if I can just
order it, I'd like to save on shipping.  Home Depot only carries galvaninzed

Rio HyperFlow vs. Iwaki MD20RLT21 Jul 2004 04:00 GMT3
I currently have the Rio HyperFlow as a return pump for my 100G tank.
I'm thinking of replacing it with the Iwaki MD20RLT, but not sure
which will move more water all things being equal.  I know the Iwaki
may be quieter, and create less heat.  That being said, any comments?
aiptasia nocturnal ??21 Jul 2004 03:36 GMT1
water parameters seem normal except that phosphates are between 0.1 and
0.25ppm and I cannot get them down but I keep having to rake over the gravel
every day.  I left for work and everything was OK. the gravel was clean.  I
was home early this morning at around 5.30 am and again ...
De-ionised water question21 Jul 2004 02:56 GMT35
I have tried using a tap water purifier here, which hasn't worked out
for me. I can't have an RO unit as I'm on a water meter & it would be
way too expensive!
Is de-ionised water actually better than RO water or another form of?
Reflections20 Jul 2004 21:34 GMT3
I hate to be the one to tell everybody, but a fish is not fighting or
playing with it's reflection in the tank. There is no reflection on the
inside, it's an optical illusion when viewed from the outside. From the
inside, the walls are clear. While your tang or other fish might be
Clown Tang problem - need help20 Jul 2004 13:59 GMT7
All
Several weeks ago I purchased a healthy looking Clown Tang.  It spent 3
weeks in quarantine and then went into my 6*2*2 reef tank.  It has now been
in the reef for about 3 weeks. Yesterday it seemed to be a bit quiet and has
