| Lighting Question | 20 Jul 2004 06:30 GMT | 5 |
Hi all! I've read that lighting for an aquarium should be on 10-12 hours a day. During hours that lights are off, do you guys have the actininc blue on, is the tank in total darkness? New to this hobby obviously. Any help would be appreciated.

| Power Compacts with legs | 19 Jul 2004 22:34 GMT | 10 |
Anybody have any experience with those fixtures like Current USA Orbit, Satellite, or the Formosa units that stand on legs on top of your tank? My concern is about how much light spills into the room out the sides between the light and the tank. Do you get this obnoxious bright

| Psychotic Yellow Tang | 19 Jul 2004 17:51 GMT | 7 |
I have a tang that I purchased recently, and after a couple of days in the tank, it started constantly fighting its own reflection. The creature constantly sprints from side to side, and wiggles his/her body against the tank (I assume it's fighting its own reflection.)

Hi Folks; I'm able to setup a sump on my undrilled 55gal tank. I have a Mag7 pump, no other sump equipment. I was talking with the folks at Lifereef about using their Slimline overflow box (I only have 3.5" of space behind the tank), and

| fowlr with low light | 17 Jul 2004 03:04 GMT | 5 |
I have a Oceanic 30 gallon hex that I'm thinking about converting to a fowlr. The only lighting I have for it though is a 14 watt fluorescent. Real estate on the top of that tank for lighting is a premium. I'm wondering about the requirement of light for the live rock to have its

Look at this http://www.korallenriff.de/ati_kreisel.html If you are not fluent in German, use http://babelfish.altavista.com or other automatic translation service to convert it to English. What do you think about it? Have you seen it somewhere on US market?

| Hair Algae | 16 Jul 2004 22:00 GMT | 6 |
Has anyone ever had their hair algae spontaneously disappear?!? A few days ago I was thinking I'm going to have to pull some of the rock out of my tank to get rid of the algae, and this morning, I noticed that there isn't one bit of hair algae anywhere in my tank, yet my fish are ...

| Actinic Lighting | 16 Jul 2004 17:32 GMT | 5 |
Hi all. Does a reef tank need actinic lights? I have 2 - T8's 5000K overdriven 4x and 2 actinic T12's overdriven 4x also. I only have some mushrooms, green star polyps and brown button polyps and they are all doing great under these lights. I figure what if I just run all 5000K T8's ...
