tds readings16 Aug 2004 17:47 GMT15
I've just purchased a 6 stage 100 GPD (nowhere near that) RO unit and have
ran it for a full day now most of that time was flushing the membranes and
the TDS readings were thus.
tap water = 210ppm
Bio Elite16 Aug 2004 07:53 GMT3
Anybody heard and / or had any experiences with this product? -

In particular I was looking at the "Heal All" product but there is no
mention of use in marine aquariums or affects on inverts / corals / etc....
Building a DI system16 Aug 2004 06:06 GMT5
I would like to add a DI system to my RO unit and I'm having trouble
finding the anion and cation resins.
I'll be building the cartridges myself so I'm looking for just the
resins.  I've found lots of refill cartridges that I'm sure I could
pump recommendations15 Aug 2004 22:39 GMT1
I'm using a 36G reef tank and want to replace the faulty RIO1700 return pump
should I go for the maximum output or should I just replace with a similar
output to the pump I'm replacing. I've 2 1.5" output pipes from the tank.
recommendations anyone.
return pump15 Aug 2004 19:41 GMT12
Anyone have a solid suggestion on a return pump
for a 72 gallon bowfront reef? The return flows through
a chiller before the display, an the single overflow
dumps into a refugium. I also have a skimmer that I think would work more
Protein Skimmer choice14 Aug 2004 08:56 GMT1
i'm setting up my first reef aquarium, it's a 55 gallon All-Glass and I will
be doing a reef tank with fish, i have purchased the sump, lights and have
everything bought except my protein skimmer
i have narrowed it down to two, the two are the ASM G1X  or the Aqua Medic
Catching Fish14 Aug 2004 07:50 GMT3
I need to catch the Royal Dottyback in my tank cause its causing greif.
Everytime i try to catch it with the net it just darts in and out of the rocks.
Has any1 got any idea on how i can catch it ?
Mandarin disappearence?14 Aug 2004 06:26 GMT3
Do Mandarins often hang out in a remote corner of the rockwork then
disappear for a couple weeks?  I occaisionally see a flash of movement in a
cave but I'm not sure if it's him or not.
Thanks,
bio-balls & phos absorb13 Aug 2004 21:36 GMT5
whilst trying to cure my algae problem I added a pouch of phosphate absorber
to the sump and some filter floss 9nto the media chamber of the prizm
skimmer. from doing this, the skimmer has started to produce a much better
residue.  it's less thick (more fluid) and much more of it.  ...
Questions about LR & LS in new tank13 Aug 2004 15:07 GMT3
I am studying up in preparation to start a 15 to 20 gallon marine tank
with live rock, live sand, corals, shrimp and a small fish.  Also
planning to use an Eheim canister filter and protein skimmer (unless
of course I'm advised otherwise).  I've read a bunch of posts here as
open-top reef tanks13 Aug 2004 03:22 GMT5
I wanted to get your thoughts on open-top tanks...
I have a 30 gallon acrylic that I'm thinking about setting up as a
reef tank.  When I say "open-top", I mean that there is very little
horizontal acrylic on the top of the tank.  (There's only a "brace" in

I'm a Daddy twice and missed the births!13 Aug 2004 01:40 GMT16
I went away two weeks and when I got back this Monday I noticed that
my rose anenome had split.  Today I was moving one of my live rocks,
and I find another rose anenome.  Two splits in two weeks!

bad Salifert nitrite kit12 Aug 2004 15:00 GMT2
I discovered I had a bad Salifert nitrite kit, which I bought about 2-3
months ago.  Beware of falsely high readings.  I wasted a couple months
waiting for a new tank with uncured live rock to cycle.  It was done
all along!  My LFS said several kits have been returned.
Closed-Loop System for 125 - Suggestions?12 Aug 2004 04:05 GMT2
I'm setting up my 125g reef, and want to install a closed-loop system for
circulation. I do intend to use the SCWD "Squid" unit. But would like some
comments on how to go about this on a large tank. I'd prefer to eliminate
ALL use of Power Heads.
