I want to invest in a good protein skimmer for a 30-gallon reef tank.  I'd
really like something low maintenance and easy to install.  Preferably, I'd
like for it to fit in the sump of my wet/dry.  The sump is about 14 inches

  I have 44 gal tank that I started about 8 weeks ago. It has 8 pounds of
live rock (adding more in a week) and fine sand. The first batch of live
rock I bought had sea urchins in it, I have also stock the tank with a
tomato Clown and a yellowtail. I had a algae bloom about 2 weeks ...

I am having a little trouble getting my 30 gal SW tank to get down to 78
degrees f.  It seems to be running right about 84 Degrees f.
   1.  Is 84 degrees to warm?
   2.  Any suggestions on how to cool the tank, without a $600 cooler?

I've had a 30 gal sw fish only tank for 7 years.  I'm now switching to
a 44 gal 'cause it fits in a corner.  I've had Emperor 400's
(biowheels) on this tank the whole time and even though the flow rate
isn't nearly what they advertise, my a/n/n has always been perfect.

I use it on my palm trees and lawn, works great. Any pitfalls to using
it in a reef tank? My mangroves seem to be sucking it up and the MG up
from the store isn't cheap.

We are just setting up a reef tank (not yet stabilised - installed

Okay, Nitrites should ideally be 0.0 mg/l but at what stage do they start
becoming a problem or possibly fatal to fish and corals in the tank alike?

I've been having problems with hair algae overtaking my live rock in my
30-gallon tank.  Water quality parameters are testing fine.  I've heard that

I'm growing bubble calerpa in my 20g sump, and it's currently lit
with a 96w PC, simply because it's what I had available. What is the
miminum light I could use and still have the macro be ok? Would
compact flourescent be ok?
