| Fast Cycle? | 17 Oct 2004 10:56 GMT | 4 |
Eight days ago I added about 80 Lbs. of Marshall Island rock (uncured) to my new 75 Gal. Not being too familiar with liverock, I wasn't too sure what to expect. When I opened the boxes, I got a slightly unpleasant whiff and proceded to pick off any obvious dying stuff

I have a 20gl nano reef established for 2 months now with a combined 130W of PCs 1000K and actinics running. And it seems that most things are developing fairly OK. I started seeing some life emerge from the LR and I have just added a small favia frag.

I have been reading that I can save money by making Kalkwasser from lime I can buy at a hardware store. I was wondering if anybody was doing this successfully and if so what brand of lime are they using...or does it matter?

I've been reading up on benefits of using live plankton (phyto & zoo) to feed inverts, and would like to start experimenting with growing my own cultures. Any first-hand feedback on whether it's actually worth while?

| Red hermit re emerging? | 14 Oct 2004 00:51 GMT | 2 |
I have a question: Do red leg hermit grabs shed their body shell? I had a single one in a nano reef and one day I saw his remains on the sand all eaten up. I figured the crab died till a day or two later where there he's in his shell bigger than ever.
