| new turbo snails... deader than soccer | 13 Nov 2004 16:10 GMT | 6 |
I have a young reef tank. It consists of about 55 lbs. of Fiji rock in about a 32 gallon tank. It's recently through the amonia/nitrite cycle... ended about five days ago. I got two big turbo snails around that time to tame a little algae growth. One of them ate a little,

| Arrow headed crab - predatory behaviour? | 12 Nov 2004 23:53 GMT | 4 |
My lad kept pestering me for the "cool" arrow headed crab he admired whenever we visited the LFS. I eventually relented and ask the LFS assistant if it was safe (she is normally pretty good with advice). She said yes and assured me that it shouldn't bother fish, corals or

| trouble making Kalwasser | 12 Nov 2004 06:08 GMT | 13 |
I am mixing 1 teaspoon of pickling lime with 15 ml of white vineger. Then diluting it with 1 quart of saltwater. Then I drip it in to the tank (1 drop per second). Now I was figuring my calcium would go up. It was 200 now the drip has it up to 300. I was told the alkalinity ...

| Rotten egg smell in filter? | 11 Nov 2004 23:15 GMT | 1 |
I'm starting my tank up again after a wipe out six months ago. I'm only just cleaning the filter after its been sitting for that time switched off. It smalls extremely bad of rotten eggs! Like my wife and kids want to move out! The bucket of crushed coral is the same when I dig into ...

| LFS offer no support | 11 Nov 2004 14:13 GMT | 12 |
<brief history of my LFS/pet store experience> My girlfriend wanted a veil chameleon, so I finally snuck off to the pet store one day and bought one for her with everything (cage, food, etc.). I bring it home to an excited yet concerned woman. She tells me that

| Tank Capacity and | 11 Nov 2004 10:02 GMT | 4 |
Do invertebrates such as the Stenopus hispidus count towards the total number of fish when stocking a new marine fish tank? For example if based on tank capacity you can stock 20" of fish, would that need to be reduced if adding the Stenopus Hispidus.

| Marine Fish - Newbie! | 11 Nov 2004 09:42 GMT | 6 |
New to the group AND marine fishkeeping! I had a fairly small marine aquarium installed about 45 minutes ago, the local fish shop installed and filled with water, added the salt and setup the filter etc. I am hoping to find someone to maintain on a monthly basis

| 2 new clowns - bobbing behavior | 11 Nov 2004 08:05 GMT | 5 |
I have two new clowns that were paired at the store. I've only had them two days. They seem to be doing bizarre bobbing up and down behavior. At first, I thought that this was because of wrong specific gravity. But, I added some salt to the tank and got it up to 1.021

| Question about start up | 11 Nov 2004 05:30 GMT | 3 |
I have a question about setting up a new saltwater tank. I have a 46 gallon (bowed front) tank that I had been using at a freshwater cichlid tank. I am converting it over to saltwater and still using the penguin 400 fresh/marine bio-wheel filter and I bought a new skimmer (that is ...

| Make your OWN live rock.... | 11 Nov 2004 05:30 GMT | 6 |
I've read it, I've even bookmarked the page... just wanted to see if anyone has done it, and if there was any success with it? Seems like a not so bad idea.... but could be 'too frugal' of an idea too...

| starfish sick? | 11 Nov 2004 00:41 GMT | 2 |
I have had my reef tank set up for about 3 months. With the live rock came an orange starfish which has been doing great and seemed very happy. In the last 3 days his "bumps" have turned dark, he's not moving around much and two of his "legs" are curled at the ends. Is he sick? Is ...
