'pods in sump31 Dec 2004 01:09 GMT4
My sump\fuge is teeming with all kinds of pods, some of them look
darn near big enough to start attacking hermit crabs. Question is,
whats the best way to "harvest" them, and get them into the display
tank where they can become food for the mandarin and wrasse?

I think I got scammed!30 Dec 2004 00:41 GMT23
Has anyone ever purchased from Empire pets?  They're located in Marietta,
Ga.  I ordered some stuff on the 1st, they hit my card, and I haven't heard
a thing since.  My account says it's still processing.  They haven't
answered any e-mails and forget calling.  The old saying ...
brown Algae and lighting29 Dec 2004 16:51 GMT7
I have been having a brown algae issue for about 4 weeks. I am now on
vacation and was here when the lights came on at 10:00am and noticed the
algae was completely gone from the rocks and about 70% gone from the
sand bed. I come back about 4 hours later and it is as bad as ever. ...
Seperate pump for UV or use ext Filter28 Dec 2004 21:48 GMT2
Just setting up my tank again after a wipe out a few months ago. Got myself
a UV this time. Is it OK to put it in line with the ext filter or will it
reduce the flow rate to much, should I put the UV on its own filter? The ext
filter is 1000lph on my 300l tank.
A recent pic of my setup28 Dec 2004 21:14 GMT4
Here is a recent pic of my 66gal tank. I run 4x 48" VHOs off an Icecap
660. The tank is drilled with a MAG9 for the return. I have a 20gal
sump. I run a Berlin with a Kent venturi and MAG5 pump. I use natural
seawater taken a site 30KM from my home.
Three legged starfish?28 Dec 2004 18:26 GMT5
Over the past couple of weeks, we have had two small (half inch across)
what looks like starfish appear int he tank. Each is similar in that
they are greenish white with three "proper" legs and three or four
"stumps". The are currently clinging to the glass on the side of the

clown suicide27 Dec 2004 23:59 GMT10
One of a pair of percula clowns jumped out of the tank last night. I'm
trying to figure out if there was a reason for it, or if it was just an
unlikely jump. There are no other fish in there yet, besides the remaining
clown, just a chocolate chip star, a small emerald crab and  a ...

VHO or T5?27 Dec 2004 11:24 GMT3
I am setting up my new 120.  I have a 49" canopy to work with, but its only
got 6" vertical clearance inside it.  Light options are either VHO or T5.  I
am finding it hard to find out how the 8x54 watt T5 is compared to 4x110
watt VHOs.  Mostly concerned with brightness, but heat ...

Scroll down the web page to flatworms. and you will see the pic. I have
these in my refugium. Are they flatworms? And are they bad to have in the
system?
URI VHO Bulbs...25 Dec 2004 14:48 GMT2
I have 48" bulbs - 4 of them for a total of 440 watts.  It is a VERY tight
fit in my lid and I'd like to switch to the 46.5" just to make it easier to
change them.  My problem is I have 2 spare 48" and so will it be a problem
mixing the the 48" and 46.5" ?  I suspect not since  they ...
