Another Creature ID11 Apr 2005 08:25 GMT10
I've recently noticed a creature on my live rock.  It seems to be nocturnal
and sort of looks like a leach.  It has browish and white stripes.  He
crawls for cover when the lights come on.  Any ideas on what this is?  Is it
harmful?  Should I get it out of my tank next time I see ...
Dogface Puffer ate my Horseshoe Crab?10 Apr 2005 14:28 GMT2
Got an unusual question, I have 2 horseshoe crabs, a small one and a bit
larger one.  I got a dogface puffer that I got few days ago.  Yesterday
morning the biggest crab shed his shell, so I am assuming he was very
vulnerable.  When I came home from work last night, the puffer ...

Please help my Queen Anthias !
I bought a Queen Anthias at a big sale last weekend. The prices were
amazing -- but all the fish were coming in from a local warehouse in
bags, and being offered on tables. When I asked how long the fish had
decapsulating brine shrimp08 Apr 2005 12:50 GMT1
Is there any harm in including the brine shrimp eggs shells with the baby brine shrimp when feeding a reef tank? Or do you have to decapsulate them first?

and only comes out at night.
Yellow water?!?!?!?08 Apr 2005 00:24 GMT10
I help with a friends tank. Recently I went there and the water was yellow.
He said it had been that way since I did a partial water change a month ago
or so. I looked at some water I had mixed up at the same time (about a month
ago). When I mixed it up last month it looked fine. ...
Cutting Live Rock?07 Apr 2005 19:57 GMT5
What would the implications be to cutting Live Rock? I want to take slices
of the rock in order to create plates with flat tops and bottoms. This is
being considered to improve the stability and stack-ability  of the reef.
These plates can then be positioned rather easily to ...
bubbles from sump07 Apr 2005 19:56 GMT6
I have a 45 gallon bowfront with a homemade overflow (thanks to Marc at
http://www.melevsreef.com/) going to a 10 gallon sump underneath the
stand (all that will fit) with a mag 3 for a return pump and a remora
hang on skimmer (on the sump) with another mag 3 in the sump to drive
Pressure pump recommendations?07 Apr 2005 18:43 GMT2
I am currently using an Iwaki MD70 turned down a little bit and it is quite
a loud pump.  I would like to get another pressure pump that is quieter,
doesn't sound like a jet engine.  Does anyone have any model
recommendations?  I am running through a an ocean clear filter.  ...

to reefs?  I have gotten conflicting advice.  The guy at my local
clown goby question07 Apr 2005 14:11 GMT2
I have a question about my yellow clown goby.  You all have been so helpful
with all my other newbie questions.  I usually go to bed right after I turn
out the lights on my tank.  I don't really know what goes one in there after
dark.  Last night my son came in and woke me up ...
Switched tanks and suddenly Ammonia!!07 Apr 2005 08:33 GMT4
I switched from a 200 gallon to a 120 gallon so as to control the height out
of safety concerns of the glass shattering. All the water, fishes, LR/LS
from the original tank has gone into the new one.
However, upon testing I find that suddenly ammonia and nitrite readings have
Blue discosomas gone brown?07 Apr 2005 08:18 GMT2
Hi - noobie alert!
I am just in the process of setting up a 55 gallon reef. A couple of weeks
ago I put in about 60 pounds of indo-pacific live rock (which was excellent,
it cycled in about 3 days flat!). I inherited one rock with several blue
