Sump design...25 May 2005 18:15 GMT6
I want to add a sump to my 48G Bowfront for the two primary reasons listed
below.  I do not plan to make this a refugum at this time (like the Marc
Levinson has ones on melevsreef.com).  I will place the heater, skimmer,
H.O.T. wet/dry filter and canister filter in this sump.  ...

aragonite sand and a huge skimmer. Ammonia is low but not zero,

water change % of what?25 May 2005 18:02 GMT20
So it is suggested to do a water change of about 20-25% every few weeks (3-4
weeks).  Is this 25% of the tank? or 25% of water in the tank after
evaporation?
So I have a 50 gallon tank, is that a water change of 12.5 gallons?  Or from

What snail do in the acquarium? Will it clean the tank?25 May 2005 03:19 GMT5
In my mind, snails will eat dirty stuff and keep the tank clean. But I

Just like to know if I can use ocean water from Miami Beach and put it

Shrimp keep dying??23 May 2005 23:14 GMT19
I hope someone out there can give me an idea what's going on in my tank.  I
have a 29 gallon reef/fish tank with approx.15-20 lbs live rock.  It's been
set up for about 10 months.  After I had it set up I bought a pepperment
shrimp who got big and was thriving.  I found him dead ...
revive live rock?23 May 2005 22:57 GMT1
I inherited some live rock from someone shutting their tank down.  Rock had
good form/shapes, but was not in good shape i.e., blackened at a portion,
smelling, etc.
I'm not sure if I did the right thing, but I started out by cleaning out the
