I've just got some live rock from two different local suppliers and both
batches I have lots of little tiny white critters, too small to even see
what they are they scuttle around on the rock, then there was another
guy about 3mm long that looks like a tiny shrimp, but i'm not ...
Bristle worm ?21 May 2005 05:37 GMT3
Seems I have a bristle worm in my tank, orange at either end and black in
the middle section saw it crawling across a piece of live rock and into a
hole, not seen him since.
Now some places I read these are bad things and you should try and get rid

Cleaner Shrimp21 May 2005 00:42 GMT3
When I saw a few spots, clearly not ich, on my Kole Tang I was advised
to get a cleaner shrimp, so I got a Peppermint and the Tang was clear in
a couple days.  Just a coincidence, I was sure.  Then this morning I saw
my pseudochromis shimmying wantonly in front of the shrimp and, ...
Plumbing question - RO delivery pump pulses20 May 2005 08:46 GMT1
Here we go, plumbing experts...
Reading about R/O membranes I figured out my tap water
pressure (30-40 PSI) is not good enough to get good R/O
performance. So I picked up the demand/delivery pump
prizm skimmer?18 May 2005 12:30 GMT11
has anyone got one of these that works and how did you manage it. mine's
sump mounted and with 10Gallon fortnightly waterchanges I cannot keep the
nitrates under control.  I fed the tank twice or three times a week a bit of
flake and the odd bit of frozen brineshrimp. seems a lot ...
Reducing water changes by adding supplements16 May 2005 21:10 GMT5
Can you reduce the frequency and percentage of water changes through
the clever use of supplements? If so, are there any general guidelines?
What supplements are recommended for a mixed tank (fish, corels,
shrimps, anemone, etc)? If you get the supplementation right, is it
Average life of Yellow Tang.16 May 2005 19:57 GMT30
Hello Group !
I've had a Yellow Tang for 5 years -- since I've set up my FO. It is now
showing Lateral Line -- I think. White area around the head. It is very
big -- approx 3.5 dia. I've been feeding Seaweed select = Julian Sprung
lights how high from tank?16 May 2005 05:10 GMT2
How high should I suspend my set of 36" PC 96W lights on my 50G FOWLR+very
few easy corals?  I want to maximize UV/Light, but minimize heat on the
glass tank cover.  Is 12" (1 foot) too high?
Thanks
new setup15 May 2005 19:49 GMT1
I have a 120gal. tank which I have yet to setup (72x18x24).  I've been
reading this news group for about 2 months now and I am trying to get a feel
as to what I should do.  My tank is used and has 4 holes drilled in (2 on
each side).  Here is what I plan to do;
Leaving tank unattended15 May 2005 03:15 GMT4
Due to work commitments, we are unable to take a long vacation this
summer so are planning a series of short breaks instead (e.g. long
weekends).
We have a 50g reef tank, fish and inverts, lots of LR, 9 months
Boxer shrimp developing attitude14 May 2005 14:20 GMT2
We have had a banded corel (boxer) shrimp for about 6 months and he has
been a great member of the community, growing steadiy to about 3 inches
in body length with about a 10-12 inch feeler span (that's a guess).
Recently, though, he has started lunging at the fish as they swim ...

Anybody knows what do they mean by "fast heat technology works constantly"?
It might suggest it is not that regular bimetallic thermostat...
rather some electronic device for AC phase control (triac?).
Natural saltwater12 May 2005 16:59 GMT2
Just like to know if I can use ocean water from Miami Beach and put it
directly into my aquarium. Are there any precautions or additives that I can
use or should I just keep buying saltwater from my pet store. I know some
one who uses water from the beach when it is hide tide. He ...
PH in new tank11 May 2005 20:38 GMT50
On thrid week of patiently waiting while my live rock, live sand, salt
water and bacteria cycle.
Ph is still 7.4-7.8   I was under the assumption that I should be using
distilled water to top off evaporated tank.  Then someone told me
