I didn't realize my question would spark such a controversy!
Here is an update.:
My tank ( 75 gallon FO) is quite near the water meter into the house. I have
a Fluke Digital VOM used for work. Model 12 -- pretty good unit. I measured

Time between water changes11 May 2005 09:17 GMT3
I was out of town for a few weeks and had a friend feed my fish for me. When
I returned, I checked the tank and the nitrates are very high, did a 40%
water change. Nitrates are still too high. My question is how long should I
wait before doing another water change and how much water ...
Lighting mounting10 May 2005 15:28 GMT1
This probably sounds a really dumb question but does anybody out there have
any ideas on how to mount lighting tubes in a plain wooden hood ?
New tank cloudy water10 May 2005 09:03 GMT8
Brand new tank, new RO water, added the salt last night and this morning it
is still cloudy.  Can anybody tell me if this is normal, there is nothing
else in the tank yet apart from the heater a power head circulating water.
How long does the salt normally take to fully disolve ?, ...

Ok I was at my LFS on wed last week and saw the most beautiful
Copperband Butterfly... Its about the same size as my Maroon Clown so I
thought I'd ask the guy if it was compatible... The shop guy said it
was fine and that it would hold its own against my clowns (See previous
Naso Tang Feeding10 May 2005 01:58 GMT1
I recently took a Naso off the hands of a friend. He had recently
bought it from saltwaterfish.com, but it was twice as big as the
description and too big a species for his 35gal tank anyway. I bought
the 5" tang for $30 from him and put it in my 75gal. The fish will

Question re: PC and 40 gallon09 May 2005 09:46 GMT1
A few months down the road I am planning on starting a 40 gallon breeder
tank for corals/anemones/mushrooms. (Currently have a 55 FOWLR) I've been
reading about different types of lighting on google and other sites.
I plan to get a PC fixture and select species suited to that ...
Bristleworm question08 May 2005 08:23 GMT4
Hi, guys
I'm thinking about buying live rock and sand from other guy. However, the
population of a bristleworm is so high that I cannot even count them. Is it
possible to eradicate them all? If so, how?
Mix of RO and tap07 May 2005 22:43 GMT6
Does anybody have any comment on using a small proportion of tap water to
make up my tank, due to the size of containers I can get and the distance
to travel the initial set up of my tank would be easier if I could about 5-
10% tapwater.
Anemone growth OUT OF CONTROL!!07 May 2005 22:14 GMT1
I finally purchased an Anemone (E. Quad. rose/green) for my pair of false
percs. (actually it broke up the pair and they are fighting really bad, she
seems to have decided that since she has an anemone, she does not need him
for anything. Before they were inseparable.)
Kent VS. MIRACLE MUD 07 May 2005 18:50 GMT3
Anyone have a comment on Kent MARINE BIOSEDIMENT vs. MIRACLE MUD for a
refugium?
I've seen some comments that Miracle Mud has a high content of "terrestial"
components.
