Laser Pointer Safe to use with fish?07 May 2005 08:06 GMT23
Is it safe to use a red laser pointer for the tank?  I'm getting tired of
saying to hubby "See the shrimp?  Ok - see the knob next to him..  Now go
straight over to the little hole in the rock and down about an inch..."  It
would be much easier to use the pointer but I don't want ...
GFCI Outlets07 May 2005 08:01 GMT4
GFCI outlets have surfaced in several threads lately. For those of you who have
never installed one, be aware that one of these takes up nearly all the room in
a typical wall outlet box. If you find that things are just too tight in the
outlet box, also be aware that they make ...
Acropora's and  Montipora's with VHO07 May 2005 07:23 GMT3
I went to my FLS and was told not to try to keep acropora's with my VHO
setup. 2 Blues, and 1 White Actinic and 1 White. 58 gallon Oceanic. Anybody
have any luck with Acropora's and Montipora's with VHO setup?
Firefish gone AWOL - buddy now alone07 May 2005 07:21 GMT3
We bought a couple of firefish two weeks ago as the advice seemed to be that
they were better in pairs. One of them has disappeared - we have not seen it
for 3-4 days now. Some sources say they are prone to jumping our of the
tank. There was no sign of on the floor, but we do ...
newbie / confusion over plumbing, tank to sump/refuge07 May 2005 05:09 GMT3
I'm really anxious to "dive" into this fascinating hobby, but trying
to research as much as I can...
just bought a used 50gal tank, it came w/ a fluval 303, & a couple sml
heaters, a stand, some tubing, & a few water test items....  I just
Tank Heater06 May 2005 05:13 GMT4
I have a Tank heater which has a sticking thermometer cut-out, It does not
connect when the water temperature drops, But if I tap the  thing the
thermostat clicks in. It does disconnect OK.
Has anyone taken one of these units apart, It looks like the Rubber outer
Sebae Anemone Experience...06 May 2005 03:50 GMT1
Well, I have to say, after reading all the posts on how hard a Sebae
Anemone is to keep alive, I am suprised.  And yes, I have also battled
water quality issues (nitrate, cyano, and algae).
Some background...
Shape of tank05 May 2005 13:03 GMT5
Does anybody have and opinion on the shape of tank used for marine set ups
?  Is it better to have a long shallow tank or a shorter deeper tank ?  Is
there any real benefit of going one way or the other ?
How aggressive are maroon clowns?05 May 2005 06:56 GMT6
I have a wild caught pair of maroon clowns... I bought them fully grown
and therefore they are quite large. My problem is that I have tried to
add another couple of fish to my system but have failed because both
have died.
Wet & dry filters ?05 May 2005 05:42 GMT6
Does anybody have any comment to make on wet and dry filters, both for
FO and reef systems ?  Seems to be a lot of conflicting information
about them and I'm not sure whether to invest or not.
New, Improved, Bigger, Better, Tank05 May 2005 02:09 GMT2
My fish are acting like they've been let out of jail.
It's been almost two years since I came on r.a.m.reefs and horrified all
you experienced aquarists with my account of Just Add Water Instant
Saltwater Paradise.  Even more upsetting, understandably, was that it
Refreshing Denitrifier.04 May 2005 21:03 GMT1
I have a 4 stage Kent Maximma Ro unit. How do I tell if the last stage --
The Denitrifier is depleted? If so, can it be reactivated?
My reason for asking is that phoshates in my tank are O, but I have a brown
algae bloom - I'm thinking it is silicates which the denitrifier is ...
how to clean tank?02 May 2005 22:22 GMT1
Can anyone point me to a website with directions on cleaning a salt water
tank (mostly LR and FO with a few corals)?  Am I supposed to vacuum the
bottom every few months?  Or just change water and scrape the walls?  I am
from the freshwater world, so it is a little different ...
Major Tank Relocation & Nitrate Questions02 May 2005 19:21 GMT5
The last time I had a marine tank was ten or twelve years ago. I've
missed it a great deal and have often pondered getting back into it but
haven't had the time or been ready to spend the money for a system I'd
really like.
Where to get a cleaner crew?02 May 2005 19:04 GMT7
I'm looking for a cleaner crew for my new tank (I got it used, and there's a
lot of hair algae, some cyano, and a little green slime, but not TOO bad.)
I'm concerned about cost, reliability of delivery, and quality of the
merchandise.  Any suggestions?  Anecdotes?  Experience?
