Xenia advice-Keep it or get rid of it now15 Jul 2005 05:14 GMT2
I just recently added several stalks of xenia to my 150 gallon reef
tank.  In just a week I noticed that it has already grown quite a bit,
and spread to an adjacent rock at the bottom of the tank.  I have read
that it can grow to nuisance proportions.

The local fish store....which I will most certainly have to "bust out" is
selling.......<breathe>....uh...curly cue anemones!!!!!!!!!!!  Why????
That's the moral equivalent of selling stale bread with yeasty fungus at a
convenience  store....
Lighting question again.12 Jul 2005 19:29 GMT7
I have a 65 gallon reef setup that I have had for years. I am thinking
of changing the lighting on it and would like some input. I have been
using Metal halide with 2  actinic. The corals are doing well, soft and
stoney corals. The problem is the heat that is generated by the MH. ...

At least I can't lose my SPS tank all over again, the rock is still
in a trash can with wet rags. I was waiting to get a new home
Noisey Red Sea Pump12 Jul 2005 12:20 GMT2
I've bought a Red Sea Berlin HOB Skimmer with a U.S. 110v pump.  I have a
transformer to convert UK 240v to 110v but the pump is really noisy, I can
use one of my other pumps which is fine but its not as powerful as the Red
Sea one that came with it.  If I run the pump not ...
How do you know if a coral has been dyed10 Jul 2005 04:27 GMT5
I have purchased some pretty awesome colored LPS corals before with
neon pink soft tissue coloration.  I was told by some that such corals
had been dyed, but they retained that coloration for nearly a year,
till a tank crash killed most corals in my tank.  Therefore I assume
Stocking Suggestions07 Jul 2005 07:16 GMT3
I recently had a wipe out and lost all my fish - the corals are OK though.
So, I've now got a 60*24*20 reef tank plus large sump (with DSB) and no
fish.
What would you stock with?
Tap vs. RO/DI water07 Jul 2005 03:44 GMT3
I've been dreaming about reef aquarium for many years and finally I bought
the aquarium and now i'm trying to figure out what equipment I should buy.
I'm not sure whether I should buy a RO unit or not.
I know that RO water is highly recommended in internet but doesn't that

Modifications of ETSS-type skimmer ?06 Jul 2005 10:30 GMT2
I have a 150 gallon reef tank which came with a custom-made ETSS-type
skimmer which sits in the sump.  Although I have read that in general
this is a good bang-for-the-buck design, I have been thinking about
trying to improve the skimming in my tank because the tank has had
Power Glo versus Marine Glo06 Jul 2005 01:51 GMT2
I have read many postings and several websites on the topic of lighting
for a reef aquarium.  However other than mostly opinion of what looks
better, I can not seem to find the answer I need.
For Flourescent Green Star Polyps what is the best light source?  I can
DSB versus SSB05 Jul 2005 11:37 GMT12
Can some kind soul please direct me to an article about the differences
(the fors and againsts) using Deep sand beds OR Shallow sand beds.
OR give me your own experiences and opinions.
I seem to be overwhelmed with info. The only aquarium near here that

I'm setting up a new tank after a wipe out last year. I never had yellow

Trigger fish03 Jul 2005 16:55 GMT5
I have a 92 gallon corner tank, with a sailfin tang, two percula clowns, two
yellow damselfish, and two blue and yellow damselfish. I am thinking of
adding one or two fish to the tank, and I  would like to add a triggerfish,
possibly a niger species. Does anyone have any info on ...
