I have had a lot of live rock in my tank for ages without success.  37 Kg in
a 40 Gallon tank seems like over kill so following some advice I moved some
into the sump and removed the other media.  this allows no dead spots flow
wise in the main tank but how do I light the sump.
Natural sea water vs instant sea water31 Aug 2005 17:32 GMT9
I've had freshwater aquarium for years with no problems.  I'm ready to
switch to salt water.  I purchased the necessary equipment and
supplies.  Ocean salt in bags, Wet/Dry filter, skimmer, sand (store
bought)hydrometer, hi ph test kits and powerheads.  I will be using a
hippo / regal whitespot....30 Aug 2005 13:09 GMT8
Hi - my hippo tang has white sopt.  It started off not too niticable but now
is all over him.  I know these fish are very prone to it and my LFS says to
igonore it and do not dose any medicine, but I cant help thinking that I
should be.
Breeding....27 Aug 2005 18:29 GMT5
I would like to try to breed some Marine specimens...
Several years ago, when I had a tropical tank, I successfully bred
Guppies.... (Who hasn't...).
I would like to know opinions on anything that may be suitable for a newbie
Good sand sifters?27 Aug 2005 07:38 GMT1
I am having a hard time finding healthy nassarius snails to put in my 'fuge
to keep the sand stirred up. What other critters can I use to serve this
purpose?

This distrust of glass canopies seems like bunk26 Aug 2005 21:05 GMT21
okay, I hear that 1/4" of glass is bad when placed between your 4-5
watts per gallon lighting and your corals. It limits the transmittance
of the light spectrum, i hear.
However, when scuba diving I routinely see photosynthetic corals in 70
our impact26 Aug 2005 20:31 GMT19
I have a basic question to satisfy my own curiosity:  Is anyone else
ridden with guilt over this hobby or is it just me?  I just left That
Fish Place and apparently it was fish receiving day.  There must have
been 20 styrofoam coolers on the floor filled with new fish.  Of
Moving from reef to fish only.....26 Aug 2005 20:28 GMT11
I've kept marines for a number of years, but unfortunately, despite initial
success, I've started to have a number of problems.
For a number of reasons, I've now decided to go fish only...
Can anyone recommend some products for removing the Aptasias that I'm
chloramine and oceans26 Aug 2005 14:58 GMT1
I've heard about chloramine in tap water, and that it is very hard to
get out of the water, and that it kills fish, including salt water
fish.  Well, all that tap water runs into the oceans, which contain a
lot of salt water fish.  Does chloramine in ocean water naturally
Kh/Ph/Ca lesson please26 Aug 2005 06:07 GMT6
I ma fairly new to the hobby (reef keeping) and probably need good
chemistry lesson: I am having some issues with my water parameters - I
can not get my Ph/Alk/Ca to balance right.
Test results are as follows.
A few refugium questions.26 Aug 2005 01:06 GMT8
I have a 29 gallon tank with a sump I made from a 20 gal long tank. I
have about 8 gallons worth devoted to a refugium with live sand, some LR
rubble, and some caulerpa. One thing I didn't plan for is bits of plant
matter coming loose, and while I can just put the sponge ...
lighting obsession sounds like rubbish to me25 Aug 2005 17:52 GMT5
I'm setting up my first nano-reef. I'm reading some debates on
lighting, especially whether or not to use a glass hood.  A common
concern I've heard is that glass will limit the transmittance of
certain wavelengths of light to the detriment of coral growth.
Locating Black PVC25 Aug 2005 17:12 GMT5
Somewhat of an eyesore to see white PVC fittings - can anyone direct me to
online store that sells black PVC and related fittings?

HELP Bengual Cardinal25 Aug 2005 05:08 GMT1
I have two Bengal Cardinals, one I got 2 weeks ago, and the other yesterday.
I asked the man in the shop if I could put two together and he said yes, but
the big one I bought first is giving the new little one a Hard time.  I
looked in my two aquaria books before I bought them ...
