Was wondering if any one can give me an opinion on witch bulbs would
give a better look I've been using the 14k hamilton for awhile
now because the 10k ones are just way to yellow but I would like to get
more of a crisp white/blue look then the 14 k's give me. Have tried the
Difficulty with Yellow Polyps29 Nov 2005 21:13 GMT12
72 gallon reef with many LPS, muchrooms, buttons, and reef safe fish.
Standard clean up crew. I can't for the life of me keep yellow polyps. They
die off quickly. Everything else in the tank does great. Water quality is
awesome. Calcium and KH/Alk are perfectly in range. That ...
Cloudy new sand29 Nov 2005 21:04 GMT2
Hi.  I am attempting to start a Deep Sand Bed Salt Water Aquarium.  As
recommened on more then one web site I obtained play sand from home
depot and put in my empty aquarium.  Then I put in the power heads,
filled the tank with water, added salt, and turned the power heads on.

hello29 Nov 2005 02:38 GMT1
Hi, newbie here.  I joined for a bit awhile back, but dropped out trying to
make time for other things.  Still don't have time, but miss all the good
information.
Anyway, I don't lurk well, got too much to say, so thought I'd introduce
Octopuses28 Nov 2005 19:58 GMT10
There was a marvellous TV programme on BBC2 (U.K.) last night, devoted
to octopuses. Part of the program was showing the Giant Pacific
octopus in (I think) the Monterey Aquarium. One of them had grown to
fullsize, so they transferred it to a larger, massive aquarium. There
Seio Super Flow Pump/Powerhead28 Nov 2005 02:52 GMT5
Does anyone use this pump?  It almost looks like it might be an
alternative to a Tunze Turbelle stream pump, for smaller tanks.

Hmm, though I see that hellolights.com recommends that it not be used
Kalkwasser28 Nov 2005 02:44 GMT2
Up until now, I've been using the B-Ionic 2-part solution to supplement
calcium, and maintain alkalinity, in my reef tank.  I recently added a
"fresh water" top-off system with a float valve.  It was recommended to me
to fill the top-off bucket with kalkwasser instead of just RO/DI ...
Anemone killer27 Nov 2005 23:14 GMT17
I have a 125 gallon FOWLR tank. Nearly every surface is now covered with tiny
brown anemones -- we're talking only a few millimeters across. I don't know if
they will grow very large. If so, I will have a real problem at some point.
Is there some sort of invertebrate or crab that ...
Quarantine tanks27 Nov 2005 20:55 GMT1
This especially for Miskairal.
As you will already be aware, the 2 diseases you are most likely to
find  when buying new fish are marine ich. and marine velvet. Most
books will then be suggesting treatment with copper.
Xenia elongata27 Nov 2005 19:21 GMT3
We have tons of the Pom-Pom Xenia, but any Xenia elongata we've tried
to keep has withered away. Some of it came from the same tank (even on
the same rock) as the Pom-Pom. It was suggested to me that our water
quality is "too good" for the elongata, that they like a murky
Returning newbie27 Nov 2005 19:15 GMT11
I have a 75 gallon tank I want to set up as a reef tank.  I plan on
putting it in our family room.
I got the tank for free along with a rusty stand and some other parts,
most in poor shape. I know I need to get a different stand, cover and
"Caterpillar" ID27 Nov 2005 09:11 GMT5
I discovered something new in my tank last night and have just spent an
hour trying to find it on the net but I'm not even sure what type of
critter it is and there is soooo much at wet web media and I'm on dialup
and it takes ages to get through it all. I've also taken a look at ...
