Home made fish mix26 Jan 2006 07:55 GMT7

I recently installed a Red Sea Prizm Protein Skimmer.   This probably
sounds like a dumb questions but when the insuctions talk about  wet
vs. dry foam I have no idea what they are talking about.  All foam to
me is wet???   The instructions do not explain the difference just say

I am getting a dark red , almost crimson supstance growing on the substrate

When I remove the substance it takes the top layer of the substate with it,
kinda like rolling up a snowball. Any ideas what it ...

Salt mix readings21 Jan 2006 14:56 GMT8
Hi again all,
I was wondering if you can tell me what your salt mix parameters are
BEFORE you add it to your tank? ie. Water tests done on made up water.
I've got to change my salt mix as I've been using Coralife and the Ca is
New 50 Gallon, so confused about filtration!21 Jan 2006 02:47 GMT34
I tried to post this yesterday but some how messed it up. I recently
received a 50 gallon tank for X-mas. I having been keeping saltwater
tanks for about 8 years now, but they are all smaller Eclipse systems
(3-12 gallons). However, I am now out of my league with this new tank.
Hermit crabs19 Jan 2006 22:37 GMT6
Are there safe and dangerous hermit crabs and if so how do you tell them
apart? I picked one up at the beach a couple of days ago and seriously
thought about bringing it home for my tank but changed my mind and
thought I'd ask here first.
No skimmer?19 Jan 2006 17:27 GMT4
I am trying to start a saltwater tank.  I have been keeping freshwater
for several years, and then had to leave the country for a while for a
job and took apart my tank giving away all the fish.  I am back now and
trying to start up a saltwater tank.  The question is I want a VERY
Overfeeding fish.....19 Jan 2006 15:26 GMT12

day) are always hungry when I feed them.  Now here is the thing - in the
wild they can eat all day if they like - so why dont all ...

This Yellow and Black clown fish that has killed at least 5 nice
anemones by molesting them to death finally met his match. Last weekend
I bought a large brown and white striped carpet anemone, for the first
time since i had this clown (2 years) it did not get close, and let the
