I'm upgrading my sumpless 30 gal to a 58RR and building my own sump.
I'm considering putting my sump in the basement for numerous reasons
but there's one potential reason not to.  The only logical place would

What's the Best Salt out there when setting up a new Saltwater tank? I've
heard and read so many different things.. my friend swears by Tropic Marin
... my other friends swear on Kent.. any suggestions... I want to set up a

I know next to nothing about fish tanks. A friend talked me into having
one. It is a marine tank set up with live rock, live sand, 1 large

I'm starting up a new tank: 55 gallons with 5 watts/gallon PC lighting.
I've just begun to mix up my salt when I've developed this white precipitate
on all the interior tank walls.  Here's where I am in the salt-mixing:

I've had several people e-mail me lately about my "new" t crocea clam
that I added on 2/1/06 and reported a kind of "rot" appearing on the
mantle. Turns out that this is rather common/normal with croceas and
isn't a problem. Here's a photo of the little guy as he appears today...
