green eheim vinyl tubing help prevent algae?08 Feb 2006 17:31 GMT3
I've heard that the green eheim vinyl tubing won't encourage as much algae
growth in the tubing as the standard vinyl tubing.  Any truth to that?
Going from a tank to a sump, I mean.  Thanks.

AH Supply Lighting for 42G08 Feb 2006 04:39 GMT5
I'm considering buying the 2x96 watt Bright Kit from AH Supply
(www.ahsupply.com) for a new 42 gallon tank (36"l x 18"w x 15"h).  I plan on
keeping mostly soft corals.  Wondering what some others think of that amount
of lighting for the 42G.  Also wondering who else has used AHS ...
Lighting - I just can't grasp it all.07 Feb 2006 21:15 GMT2
Hi everyone, I would love some advice with my lighting. This is a bit
long but I wanted you to have as much info as possible.
I bought my tank second hand and the lighting came with it. Everything
else is new but it's time I did something about the lights. I've left

t. crocea mantle troubles05 Feb 2006 04:29 GMT1
I bought a t. crocea at my LFS Wednesday this week. What I thought was
white colorations in the blue mantle are now turning out to be some kind
of mantle rot. Here are some photos (warning: they're rather large! the
last is the smallest at 250k) for reference:

copepods?04 Feb 2006 18:09 GMT18
Hi again all,
I'm wondering how you know if you have pods in your tank? My ultimate
goal is to get a mandarin or two, probably in a year or so as my tank is
way too new yet. I've not seen anything resembling pods so far, does

What's the best SALT?04 Feb 2006 09:59 GMT113
I've been using Instant Ocean since I set up my 75 Gal. FOWLR tank in 2002
and never had a problem. I've read that its not really a good idea to change
salt, but if you were to change it, it was a very lengthy process with
mixing your current salt with the new stuff until your ...

Getting Rid of Ich03 Feb 2006 15:24 GMT6
Just wanted to share a way I have just got rid of Ich. It was really
effective, quick and didn't seem to have a single negative effect on
anything else. I dint have to catch any fish and do any stressful dips.
Firstly I lowered the SG to 1.023, then I re-plumbed on my 25 Watt UV
Stable Iodine levels?03 Feb 2006 15:18 GMT5
I just can't seem to get the Iodine to stabilize in my tank.  I use Kent
salt and have tested freshly mixed water and found 0.0 ppm Iodine so I
figured I was starting behind the eight ball. However, I added Kent Iodine
supplements over a few days and got the levels up to 0.04 ppm ...
Hagen test kits03 Feb 2006 01:46 GMT3
Has anyone here used the Hagen test kits?
I purchased a pH test and a calcium test and between the two of them it
appears that I have a 55 gallon cement block.
Both show readings way off the scale, while a test strip I have used before
Moon Snails - Don't Buy03 Feb 2006 00:59 GMT12
There in a trend of the sales of moon snails being sold at
pet stores as sand sifters. They are caching on with
wholesalers, and pet stores as an easy sell, but don't buy
them. They are snail eaters. They will boor a tiny hole in
