| Thousands of barnacles | 19 Sep 2006 07:11 GMT | 2 |
My 30 gallon tank contains thousands of tiny white barnacles. These are mainly on the rocks but a substantial number are in my protein filter and in the body my main Eheim filter. The protein filter venturi jet frequently blocks with a barnacle.

Making some progress on my tank. It will be a 37 gallon FOWLR. It has been suggested by the local pet store that I use live sand. Instead of normal fishtank sand. I have. If I put in a 5 or 6 pound cured live rock with some other rocks that can be colonized and just regular ...

| Stand height??? | 17 Sep 2006 02:41 GMT | 5 |
I'm planning to build a new stand for my 125 gallon. The existing stand is 25" high, and I'm thinking that perhaps it should be higher. The tank is 23" high. I keep my aquarium in the living room, and it will be viewed mainly by people sitting on sofas.

| Several Pseudochromidae? | 16 Sep 2006 22:06 GMT | 21 |
I am leaning towards keeping several Pseudochromidae in my tank. The hardy and semi-aggressive descriptions of them seem to suggest a slightly-less-poorer-man`s damsel. They seem to be durable, colorful little fish that I WON`T ultimately want to extricate from the aquarium.

| Plumbing | 15 Sep 2006 18:08 GMT | 7 |
I need to make some siphons and discharges for two pumps I bought. Regular PVC is white and looks a bit gaudy. ABS is black and hides well, but I haven't found small stuff (1/2"). I also don't know how safe it is for marine tanks. The best stuff available seems to be the grey ...

| Sea Shells......... | 14 Sep 2006 16:45 GMT | 4 |
I have a gigantic amount of seashells that we picked up at long-ago garage sale. Some are pretty banged up and not ideal for display. I wasnt on planning to put too many in the tank anyway.

| SCWD and 'pod bugs | 13 Sep 2006 20:33 GMT | 2 |
Does anyone know if the SCWD ("squid") will allow copepods and amphipods to pass through. The instructions for the squid say to prefilter but that it will allow some items to go through. I'm wondering if those bugs can make it through.
