Thousands of barnacles19 Sep 2006 07:11 GMT2
My 30 gallon tank contains thousands of tiny white barnacles.  These are
mainly on the rocks but a substantial number are in my protein filter and in
the body my main Eheim filter.   The protein filter venturi jet frequently
blocks with a barnacle.
A good Power Head19 Sep 2006 02:38 GMT4
I'm currently using a mag 7 drive for my 75 gal FOWLR. It moves a lot of
water for me but the problem is i have it placed on top of a piece of flat
live rock and it tend to move around. I've been unable to figure out how to
mount it so it stays in one place. Can someone please ...
Live sand or No18 Sep 2006 22:38 GMT13
Making some progress on my tank.  It will be a 37 gallon FOWLR.  It has been
suggested by the local pet store that I use live sand. Instead of normal
fishtank sand.  I have.  If I put in  a 5 or 6 pound cured live rock with
some other rocks that can be colonized and just regular ...

Denitrators18 Sep 2006 18:12 GMT60
I was doing some searching and reading on various aquaria realted stuff
last night and came across these plans for a 'coil denitrator'
http://saltaquarium.about.com/library/blank/bldondiydenitratornew.htm
As you can see from the domain, it is in the salt water section of
where is dead rock?17 Sep 2006 07:29 GMT4
With hirocks and reeferrocks are out, ReefBones are dense (so I've heard),
does anyone knows any vendors that sell highly porous dry (dead) rock?
Thanks in advance.
Stand height???17 Sep 2006 02:41 GMT5
I'm planning to build a new stand for my 125 gallon. The existing stand is 25"
high, and I'm thinking that perhaps it should be higher. The tank is 23" high.
I keep my aquarium in the living room, and it will be viewed mainly by people
sitting on sofas.

Several Pseudochromidae?16 Sep 2006 22:06 GMT21
I am leaning towards keeping several Pseudochromidae in my tank. The hardy
and semi-aggressive descriptions of them seem to suggest a
slightly-less-poorer-man`s damsel. They seem to be durable, colorful little
fish that I WON`T ultimately want to extricate from the aquarium.
Rock Food?16 Sep 2006 21:33 GMT9
hey people.
Got the rock in---Pretty cool.
I know this sounds kind of stupid--but---
Now that its there---Am I supposed to "feed it" something?
Yet another post about diatoms...15 Sep 2006 18:37 GMT4
Okay fellow reefers,
My tank looks like crap!  please help  I've been experiencing a diatom
bloom in my tank.  I have read that they are 'good' and usually go away
on their own.  I've had these diatom things in my tank for over 2
Plumbing15 Sep 2006 18:08 GMT7
I need to make some siphons and discharges for two pumps I bought. Regular PVC
is white and looks a bit gaudy. ABS is black and hides well, but I haven't found
small stuff (1/2"). I also don't know how safe it is for marine tanks. The best
stuff available seems to be the grey ...
90gal Megaflow price14 Sep 2006 23:40 GMT8
Thanks for answering my questions on the pump placement on my new tank!
Next, I got a price of $369 for AGA Megaflow tank and stand. Good price?
Should I shop around? Thanks for the comments!

Sea Shells.........14 Sep 2006 16:45 GMT4
I have a gigantic amount of seashells that we picked up at long-ago garage
sale.
Some are pretty banged up and not ideal for display. I wasnt on planning to
put too many in the tank anyway.
SCWD and 'pod bugs13 Sep 2006 20:33 GMT2
Does anyone know if the SCWD ("squid") will allow copepods and amphipods to
pass through.  The instructions for the squid say to prefilter but that it
will allow some items to go through.  I'm wondering if those bugs can make
it through.
