| How smart are fish ? | 10 Oct 2006 03:37 GMT | 103 |
I have a problem... in my huge wisom I have covered a side wall of the fishtank with a mirror-foil. Just to cover the unpleasant view behind of the tank... and to get some more light reflected back. Today I let the fish in this new tank...

| Floating hydrometer question | 09 Oct 2006 23:44 GMT | 6 |
I picked up a floating hydrometer and I'm wodering if they are affected by barometric pressure? When I float it in RO water it reads 1.004. Since I'm located in Iowa, which is above sea level a bit, will this affect the reading a bit?

| Downgrade to FO Tank | 08 Oct 2006 15:35 GMT | 1 |
I'm in the process of downgrading to a fish only tank from a reef tank for various reasons. My questions: 1 - Can I keep a cleaner shrimp in a FO tank given that I won't be using RO water and my water quality may not be quite as high as it was in my reef

| Filaments of brown algae : problem in established tank | 08 Oct 2006 02:40 GMT | 21 |
I have a serious problem in my 55g reef. This tank is about 5 years old, and is well established. I've kept reefs for about 15 years, so thought I'd seen everything, but this has me beaten. The symptoms are that everything is covered in brown algae, which is

| Kold-sterile vs. RO/DI | 06 Oct 2006 21:25 GMT | 8 |
I know the reef community preaches RO/DI. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has had any personal experience with the Kold-sterile filtration system. I just don't like having my water being wasted making RO/DI. I only find some old articles/forums about this product. Sounds ...

I have a beautiful piece of pulsing xenia that grows vigorously. Every month of so I cut it back to try and control it. Sometime little pieces of it fly loose and set hold on my live rock in places where I do not want it to grow.

| Are the Tunze pumps quiet? | 06 Oct 2006 15:38 GMT | 4 |
I'm thinking of buying a Tunze 6060. Anyone out there have one? How much noise do they make? George Patterson All successes in conservation are temporary. All defeats are permanent.

| Aquascaping | 06 Oct 2006 02:20 GMT | 4 |
I'm about to move my 40 gal reef (Fri) to set it on a new stand. As long as I'll have almost everything removed, I wonder if anyone has any good guidelines on aquascaping. I know that all should "firm" so things don't tumble (like they do now). I want to maximize the number of ...

| Pod-Feeding | 05 Oct 2006 03:20 GMT | 20 |
Now that I have loads of pods in my cycling tank, I`d like to keep the population going. What do they eat? I guess once I get predatory fish in there, I`m gonna see a lot less pods. Is there something I can do now within the tank itself--(IE: NOT separate

I've been using the Hagen test kit from the start and was sure that my Cal levels were properly read. Then I ran out of KH solutions and not being able to buy refills for this parameter, switched to Salifert. Well, using Hagen I was getting low Cal levels and low KH. Used ...

| Not Skimming....... | 01 Oct 2006 02:23 GMT | 7 |
What does it mean if the Skimmer is not producing foam? (Its not broken, sometimes it does, sometmes it doesnt.) Does it mean that at that particular moment there is very little free-floating dead organic matter in the tank?
