| How much live sand? | 08 Dec 2006 23:21 GMT | 9 |
I read that 2" of sand is the minimum. Fair to say that I'm well under that. Any recommendations? --Kurt

Have had a pretty rough time with my Nano reef experiment but am starting to think I'm through the worst then all of a sudden I have bubbles on the live rock....almost looks like there has been a dusting of snow....

| Security Restrictions and Live Fish | 08 Dec 2006 19:12 GMT | 5 |
Given our latest restrictions in the US of 3 oz liquids in a quart bag, how does this work with live animals such as fish? I'm going to be in Vero Beach and I was thinking of dropping by a fish store I'm aware of. If I can bring a small dog/cat on a flight, it seems reasonable ...

| Microbubbles | 08 Dec 2006 18:57 GMT | 3 |
I'm having a microbubble problem with my tank. The microbubbles are coming out of the return spray bar. It's not real bad, I can still see in the tank fine, I was just wanting it crystal clear. The tank is a 85 gallon drilled Oceanic, 2-1" holes drain to the ~30g sump below,

| NIGHTIME DISCOVERY | 08 Dec 2006 18:43 GMT | 5 |
I took a flash light a couple of nights ago to see what's going on inside my tank after the lights go out, I'd never seen anything other than the obvious. Well, I was surprise to finally see the famous PODS for the first time. My

| Star fish ate my anenome | 08 Dec 2006 18:35 GMT | 8 |
I caught my chocolate chip star on my anemone (sebae) chomping on him. The anemone died and I let him finish the job. Ever heard of this? I think the next time I get a anemone I am returning the star fish.

| Sump | 08 Dec 2006 18:27 GMT | 4 |
I am looking to build a sump filter for my tank. It is a 125 gallon reef. I am curently using fluidized bed filters, but want to upgrade to a sump with bio balls. The problem I have is that I can't find a pre-made sump that will fit into

| No coraline on astrea snails | 08 Dec 2006 17:58 GMT | 1 |
I have noticed that every time my LFS has new delivery of astrea or bigger "turbo" snails they come to the store completely stripped of the coraline algae cover on their shells...

| Cool Under Actinics? | 08 Dec 2006 17:24 GMT | 8 |
I got my new 192 watt Coralife fixture yesterday. It wasnt everybody`s first choice `round here, but it`s right for me, thanks for your input. My Mushrooms were already doing pretty well, but in less than 24 hours under the new light they have certainly perked-up. They also look ...

| G'day | 08 Dec 2006 17:20 GMT | 7 |
Hi all, long time since I was last here but I've been hanging out at an Aussie Reef forum which is really way more applicable to me I guess. There are some really nice people there and one even posted me some corallimorphs and another sent me a nori clip, both of which are hard ...

| Candy Basslet | 08 Dec 2006 10:26 GMT | 3 |
Man, this fish looks great and seems to meet the specs I`m looking for. I can only find it on 1 online dealer---and they charge $100!!! (Not a chance for me).

| Feed Shrimp? | 07 Dec 2006 19:13 GMT | 8 |
I dropped by my LFS. I was asking for life brine shrimp, but they pointed me at a tank of live small shrimp at USD $0.29/piece. It could make life interesting for the fish, and I don't see any harm in adding them to the tank.

| Q's about filters | 07 Dec 2006 14:44 GMT | 2 |
I have a sump setup, but filtering is limited to something that is fluffy white and looks like polyester batting and then ~40 bio balls. I'm thinking of adding a better filter. My closest LFS (Petland) didn't carry the fluffy white filter, but had a row of filters with clever
