How sweet is your Grey?31 Jul 2003 23:36 GMT3
We have had exotic birds for years,  everything but a Congo Grey.  I have
read articles saying what a great bird they are, also the raves from this
newsgroup.  So I thought they must be the perfect bird to have:-).
We bought a baby, finished hand feeding her, loved her to pieces ...

I found out the DNA sex test results today for my Congo African Grey
Charlie--"he" is really a SHE!  My Charlie is a GIRL!  Charlie's breeder
told his first owner that Charlie was a boy and so we thought the same thing
when we bought him last December.  Even our vet said that, for ...

New Sofa ? not OT29 Jul 2003 23:48 GMT4
I have a concern --I'm getting a new sofa tomorrow. It is not being
treated with any chemical/fabric protector, however I heard that new
furniture sometimes can emit gasses. To be on the safe side, should I
remove my birds from my living room for a few days? ....and when can I

Beak Question29 Jul 2003 04:44 GMT3
I have just noticed that my CAG has a light spot on his beak.  It is on the
top part of the beak about a 1/2 cm from the tip and about 1 cm long.  It
looks as though the colour has worn off and it is the same colour as the
beak of a TAG.
parroltlets death29 Jul 2003 02:55 GMT4
I had a three year old green rumped parroltlet  who I though was in good
health. I took her to the vet for regular vet check ups etc. Two days ago
Emma started having seizures and they wouldn't stop. I called the vet and
raced her there. They kept her overnight, gave her some ...
Laying eggs twice in one season!28 Jul 2003 17:03 GMT10
This is insane!  My hen has layed eggs twice this season and I'm
worried for her since I've read that it's incredibly hard on her
little body.
(They're not going to hatch again since she's a single mom.)
Parsley28 Jul 2003 15:09 GMT6
My mom just told me that when she was a child in Greece, they believed that
parsley was poisonous to parrots.  I have found no evidence to support this.
Is there any validity to this claim or is it an old myth?

Hungry Cockatiel!28 Jul 2003 11:14 GMT2
"Feed Me!!!" she says, banging on her hanging food dish.
My female tiel Loreena has taken to the habit of sticking her
head into her food dish and banging her beak repeatedly back
and forth against the sides.   She'll do this in the morning before
Cage size fo Red Tail African Grey?27 Jul 2003 19:02 GMT3
I read in a Barrons book I can keep a AFC baby in a small cage for the first
year to make it feel safer and let him/her get use to the enviroment, the
book says a cage as small as 20"x22" is good. I have a nice 22"x24"x60" cage
I could use.

Hamster-style Water Dispensers26 Jul 2003 14:04 GMT7
Has anyone used one of those rodent-style water bottles.  You know the
upside down ones with the spout?
I ask because my hen likes to crap in her water and I'd sure prefer it
if  she'd drink clean water.
Question and Opinions regarding Food25 Jul 2003 23:25 GMT2
I have heard and read more than a few opinions on pelleted foods vs "real"
foods.
Am interested in the opinions of the group as to which they feel is better
and why.
