I have read different things about both of these on websites and in books...1 budgie and 1 cockatiel... 1) Should I cover the cage at night or not? The chirping in the morning does not bother me. My concern is will my birds get better night sleep if

I have a couple of cackatiels in an aviary, sharing with about 12 budgerigars. I was wondering what I might do to make the cockatiels more friendly. Obviously spending time witth them would help, but are there any specific things I could do which would make them welcome people ...

| Moulting | 24 Feb 2004 22:36 GMT | 5 |
I recently returned from a business trip in Montreal. I was away from Henry for a week, so I arranged to have a friend stay in to house/bird-sit for us. Unfortunately when we returned Henry was looking worse for wear. She was noticeably lighter in weight, and I also noticed that ...

I'm new to cockatiels and to this newsgroup. I will hopefully be getting a cockatiel soon. From what I've read some people can get a little harsh on this group, but that's ok, I can deal with that. I'm hoping no one will get mad at me, but that depends on if I say anything dumb ...

| Just learned about 'tiels and popcorn | 21 Feb 2004 14:23 GMT | 7 |
Holy sh*t! Poppy and Crackers just went absolutely bonkers for the bowl of 'lite' popcorn (very low fat and little salt) I was eating with my girlfriend. Not being a frequent popcorn eater, I had no idea how much 'tiels loved the

| Encouraging Tiel out of cage... | 21 Feb 2004 09:20 GMT | 38 |
Lately, my Tiel won't readily come out of his cage. Once he's out, he's fine and will sit on my hand, shoulder etc. Have a fly around etc etc. But lately, he doesn't seem to want to come out. He's not sick though - just seems content to stay in the cage and talk to the mirror. It's ...

| A Question For Everyone | 21 Feb 2004 04:47 GMT | 10 |
I'm interested on any thoughts on this. How long would you wait (or have you waited) before getting another cockatiel after the death of a beloved cockatiel? As you may know, I've recently lost Ollie (Valentine's weekend). I did post

| Egg Laying Cockatiel - Suggestions Required | 18 Feb 2004 12:34 GMT | 9 |
We bought Ollie in November and were told that Ollie was a male bird aged about 3 months. However, Ollie's recent behaviour led us to believe that he was a she! This makes Ollie about 6 months old and now she has laid her 3rd egg!

| What do I do about biting? | 18 Feb 2004 03:50 GMT | 13 |
I really don't know how this started, but Piper has started biting! I don't know if the biting is from frustration or what, but how do you get a tiel to stop biting?
