need help selecting pet bird07 Mar 2004 23:13 GMT23
I am looking into getting a pet bird.  My alleriges and asthma have forced
me to give up my cat.
I want a bird that is lively, playful and intelligent, and interacts with

'tiels have been recorded at?
what is relationship between budgies and parakeets?07 Mar 2004 19:35 GMT2
I am looking into getting a bird, and the limited amount I'm finding online

I am reading that budgies and parakeets are teh same thing.  I am seeing
them treated as different kinds of birds.  One web site explained they are

I started my Cockatiel on seeds for the first several days.

Scared of everything new07 Mar 2004 00:31 GMT1

feeding and socializing, is it less scared of new stuff?

Feather Plucking Tiel06 Mar 2004 01:18 GMT117
I have a male tiel that I have owned since he was an egg.  He lives a
very pampered life.  His cage IF you can call it that is really large
enough to be an aviary for a small-to-moderate sized flock of tiels.
He has all of the freedom and toys that any tiel could ever want.  As
Pet birds and ceiling fans05 Mar 2004 21:49 GMT40
If you do a google you'll come up with tons of web pages telling of the
danger of these 'games'.  A cockatiel can be startled easily and if the fan
is whirring above, they could easily fly up and be seriously injured or
killed.  Just because you read about, or see some moron on the ...
My cockatiel is following me05 Mar 2004 16:01 GMT2
I've had my cockatiel for a week and a half. It wasn't really tame,
but it wasn't violently averse to me either. At first it was
indifferent to me. It still doesn't like my hands, but now I can lure

Crackers often follows Poppy around when they are walking on the floor
