| Poloyoma virus ? | 30 Apr 2004 21:46 GMT | 1 |
I have an Alexandrine that has been diagnosed with polyoma virus (test results prove this). Has anyone had any experience with this? With a healthy diet, can they recover? How long does it take? What I have read so far says there is no vaccine (yet, trials in Nth

| Unfertilised Eggs | 30 Apr 2004 12:28 GMT | 3 |
This is the third season my tiels have laid in excess of 20 eggs, and again none of them appear to be fertilised. The are in a beautiful aviary and seem to like their nest. Hmmmmmm. Is there such a thing as a gay tiel? Or are they just too stoopid to know what to do?

| Beak shaping | 25 Apr 2004 20:58 GMT | 5 |
Strange, there is nothing in this anywhere on google: How do parrots create their beaks in that shape? I mean don't they grow like fingernails? Fingernails I can understand, they are just straight. But how do parrots get that precise curved shape? Do they have to carve it ...

I see there are Australians posting here. My question is, are cockatiels common in the wild? Do you see them in trees or stumps or elsewhere? If so, what sorts of sounds do they make in the wild? -c

| Nest box queries | 22 Apr 2004 12:56 GMT | 15 |
1) I've built a nest box for my pair of conures, complete with infra red camera so I can watch them. Should I supply some nesting material in the box, or do they prefer to collect it themselves? 2) My conures are EATING the nest box instead of going inside it. Is this normal ...

My cockatiel has 7 eggs. Occasionally I see her, as well as the male, sit on them. Now my question is when shall I expect them to hatch?

| Infra red? | 21 Apr 2004 19:15 GMT | 11 |
Can parrots see infra red? I've built a nest box for my conures, and am planning on lighting the inside with a little infra red (an LED or two, nothing really bright) and using a webcam to monitor them (so I don't disturb them).
