Eclipse lighting30 Jul 2003 05:02 GMT4
I'm interested in using an Eclipse filter on my 29 gallon soon-to-be planted
tank. Can it handle lights strong enough to provide 3 watts per gallon? Or has
anyone had experience with retrofitting it so it can?
Thanks,
Whats in yout filter29 Jul 2003 18:15 GMT1
So I'm only a year old in the plant world. So naturally I want to
learn as much as I can. What is good/bad filtration when it comes to
keeping a plant and fish tank. I have a 75g w/ a canister (cascade
1200) I was told by a plant dealer that carbon wasnt a good idea. So
what type of algae is this???27 Jul 2003 23:13 GMT3
I've posted some pics of the algae that is slowly taking over my plants on
alt.binaries.aquaria can anyone tell me what this stuff is?
Starting Over27 Jul 2003 15:08 GMT1
Well, I had to tear down my 75g planted aquarium and move it 2300
miles from Colorado to Massachusetts. I'm eager to start back up and
looking for some fast growers. If anyone can send me some cuttings to
help out, I'll be happy to pay the postage. Thanks in advance.
Good thread algae eater for 15 gallon tank with live plants26 Jul 2003 16:48 GMT6
I just set up my tank 1 week ago and put in 3 kinds of plants that my friend
gave me.  Unfortunately they had some thread algae on them (he has it pretty
bad) and now it's growing in my tank.  Some of the leaves are already dying
so I'd like to get something that can eat the algae.  ...
need to find healthy aquarium plants -Eastern Iowa26 Jul 2003 07:00 GMT2
I need to add some plants to my freshwater tanks, but the LFS's around
here only seem to have pathetic, sick-and-dying plants.
Where is there a decent source of plants in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City
area (where I live) or in the Quad Cities area (where I work)?
So when does the algae show up?25 Jul 2003 18:19 GMT6
I am attempting a 90g low light low tech planted aquarium (1 wpg)- fish and
plant lists and photos at
http://www.cearbhaill.com/aquarium.htm .
This aquarium was set-up on 6/12- a little over a month ago.
Lobelia cardinalis (Cardinal Plant)24 Jul 2003 20:13 GMT7
First trip to the LFS in a while yesterday.  Picked up some more
ottos and a second Bolivian Ram (soo cute!)
Also stumbled across a potted plant in one tank labeled
"Cardinal plant - Lobelia cardinalis".  It has some pretty cool leaf
aqualife reactor24 Jul 2003 15:53 GMT1
I was wondering if any one has used or know any info on the aqualife
reactor.  I have seen this reactor for sale and have been thinking of
purchasing it.  Would it distibute co2 good in a 55 gallon tank?
Also if anyone else knows of a better method to inject co2 in the tank from
Identify the plant (now with pictures)24 Jul 2003 14:58 GMT2
Here are the pictures of the plant I was writing about in one of my
previous messages. I hope someone can tell me what it is.

How much lighting is too much?24 Jul 2003 05:35 GMT8
I have been keeping plants for a little over a year, but would say I am
still a beginner at this.  I am going to upgrade the lighting on my 46
gallon bowfront tank from a single flourescent, giving me right now ~1
watt/gallon, to a compact flourescent fixture.  I am looking at the ...
Identify a plant24 Jul 2003 05:14 GMT8
I have a plant I would like identified. I tried looking for a picture of
this plant on a couple of Web sites, but I couldn't find one. The plant
has very distinctive look so, I hope, it shouldn't be too difficult to
identify it from a mere description.
LFS here is cluless23 Jul 2003 01:01 GMT3
Is there a source on the web to help me identify the plants that I bought?
The local LFS is basically clueless.  I bought a few, just because they were
healthy looking, strong plants.  Don't know if they are compatible with my
tank.
