PH buffer query re plants06 Oct 2003 23:46 GMT6
Are Ph buffers bad for natural plants? I used a buffer recently and I think
that my plants have become less robust.

Hagen CO2 system06 Oct 2003 02:02 GMT3
Well I use 2 of the Hagen naturafin CO2 systems in my 100 planted gallon
tank - I know this is not enough  but I am a bit scared using CO2 bottles as
for safety reasons..
The plants look green and ok, but I still think they do grow a bit slow.
Algae problem worse after adding CO205 Oct 2003 03:40 GMT7
I added DIY CO2 a few days ago and my bluegreen algae has started growing
3-4 times as fast, but so are the other plants. It even has little bubbles
coming out of it. Is it pearling like the regular aquatic plants are
supposed to do?
lighting for 20 gallon tall????04 Oct 2003 23:53 GMT4
I've been getting conflicting informations on what kind of lighting
that I need for my aquarium so I'll tell you what it is that I want
and ask for recommendations.  I'm new to plants and I want to setup a
planted angelfish tank.  Money is tight (getting married and new
Soliciting Tips for New Aquarium04 Oct 2003 13:26 GMT3
I just had the fortune to be given a 55gal aquarium, stand, UGF plates and
two working powerheads for free.
I would like to try setting up a nice tank for live plants. Since I need a
hood does anybody have any suggestions on if I should build one or buy one
Getting rid of copepods04 Oct 2003 03:28 GMT12
Some time ago I bought a really nice, big Jade Sword plant for about
$20. Soon after putting it in my tank, the leaves all died, and it
looked like the whole plant was a lost cause.
Since I'd paid $20 for it, I decided to experiment. I put what
Bowfront hood?03 Oct 2003 19:36 GMT5
Does anyone know where I might find a hood to fit a 36" bowfront?  I
have the standard 36" rectangle that came with the AGA tank, but I'd
like to put in more light and fit the tank shape.

Opinion/help on my water02 Oct 2003 23:10 GMT2
I just got a glut  of test kits in the mail, and have been finally able to
test my water for most of the parameters, and I was wondering if someone
could tell me if any of my values need improvment. For background, I have a
130L (3') tank w/ 2 30W tubes (10,000K and 18,000K), ...
Sword plant questions (shedding?, how to trim)02 Oct 2003 22:47 GMT2
I have what I am 99% sure is are Amazon sword plants. Today I was inspecting
them closely as I was figuring out what to do with (how to trim) what
appeared to be leaves so long that they were to the top of the tank and ran
along the length of the tank. I found that these weren't ...
Substrate Heating02 Oct 2003 21:09 GMT4
Has anyone tried one of those reptile heating pads that you stick on the
bottom of the tank (outside bottom - not in the tank itself) with an
adhesive?
Do you think this may have possitive results?
Best Test Kit or meters to Buy 02 Oct 2003 20:22 GMT2
What is the best test kit out there?  I'd like to get one that has ALL the
possible tests I could want. I keep both fresh water plants and fish. I may
get into brackish or marine tanks one day.
Are there any meters that one can buy other than a PH meter?
Algae01 Oct 2003 16:48 GMT11
I purged out a message that suggested adding more plants and more
water changes would minimize algae.  I had my tank full of plants and
changed water once a week.  While the green algae on the glass was
tolerable, the black hair algae continued to thrive.
14 days and counting01 Oct 2003 16:24 GMT1
If you're planning on attending the AGA conference, you have exactly
14 days to register before you'll incur late registration fees.
Registration for the conference is $64, and registrations after
October 14th will be $74. For those of you who aren't AGA members,
Eheim vs. Aquaclear?01 Oct 2003 16:07 GMT1
I'm thinking about setting up another planted aquarium: 28 gallon. I've had
great success with water clarity and speed of filteration with the Aquaclear
series of filters for about 10 or so aquariums that I've had. Right now I
have an aquaclear with a 15 gallon with C02 pumped into ...
