Ricky is working on the web site. Last year folks had a great time.
Note, the goal is of this is not viewing lots of aquariums, this is
seeing the plants growing naturally out in nature in a variety of
how old are your fishes?29 Apr 2004 21:11 GMT16
Just out of interest.
How old is your oldest aquarium inhabitant?
my gripe with encyclopedia is they don't state the potential longevity
of fishes.

It sure is a nice looking plant and a exelent addition to my heavely planted 90
melting crypts27 Apr 2004 04:52 GMT3
I recently added a fermentation type CO2 system to my 25 gallon planted tank
which also has grow lights on it.  At the same time I started supplementing
with iron.  Most of my plants are growing like crazy with the new
conditions, but some of my crypts are melting.  A friend ...
Drastic PH Drop after adding Dritftwood26 Apr 2004 22:43 GMT5
This morning I added two pieces of driftwood to my 20 Gallon tank that
already had another piece of driftwood in it. Before doing this my PH
was about 7.4 - after adding the additional driftwood almost instantly
my PH dropped to 6.2 and now seems to be hanging around 6.5 - is this
CO2 efficiency in hard water26 Apr 2004 22:41 GMT1
I conducted today water testing with my red-sea test kit.
The test took place before and at the early stage where the lights went on.
However I think I have asked this before, but maybe I'll be enlightened a
bit more now ;-)
Canister filters and the use of peat in a South American tank25 Apr 2004 17:08 GMT2
I am setting up a planted tank and have a question about canister filters.
The tank is 29 gallons, and will be planted with South American species
including Echinodorus amazonicus, Alternanthera reineckii, and Cabomba
caroliniana. Fish will include German blue rams, cardinal tetras, ...
Buying plants online?22 Apr 2004 11:01 GMT3
While my local aquarium places have plants, usually it's a small
selection, and I can't say I think the plants look like they're very
well cared for. I've found a couple of online sources, such as
aquaticplantdepot.com. Anyone here have experience with such dealers?
uh, *gulp* I only wanted aquarium advice, woo..yikes!  Wrong place?21 Apr 2004 11:10 GMT2
Ok, so how do you do this? Stats first? OK:
20 gal undergravel filter and a Aqua Clear 150
22 fish and maybe snails as the 2 clowns just
love to dig a hole, rock by rock to eat something?
Substrate heater installation?21 Apr 2004 00:00 GMT2
I have a 20w Tunze substrate heater. I planned to put a layer of tiny
gravel around it, then Fluorite on top, then some more gravel. Maybe I
could pack Fluorite around the heater then gravel on top? (A response on
this NG told me it should be 50/50 Fluorite/gravel, which I guess ...
Prefilter for Fluval 404?20 Apr 2004 23:29 GMT7
I asked this question over in the misc group, but since prefilters seem to
be most often used in planted tanks, I thought I'd ask the same question
here too:
I'm setting up a 55G planted tank with a Fluval 404.  I can't decide if I
Nil Nitrate is Bad in PlantedTank?20 Apr 2004 18:27 GMT4
Hmmm.  I'm beginning to think I have misunderstood the role of nitrate in an
established planted freshwater aquarium.  My ammonia level is almost always
zero (or so it appears from my Aquarium Pharmaceuticals test kit.)  But
recently I have noticed newsgroup responses indicating ...

Currently I have a small Yo Yo Loach and Honk Kong Loach in my 20

many Corys can I get considering I would like to add some mid level
swimming fish later this month?
