| RED Water?? Persoxide? I am confussed | 29 Jun 2004 14:55 GMT | 4 |
OK this is REALLY strange. Have an established 65 gallon with a sump. One Large Goldfish and a few plants in there he won't eat. Bad case of Blue Green algae. Used peroxide many times in many tanks and never had a problem. Treated this one this morning and left for most of the day.

| bites found on plants? Who did it? | 29 Jun 2004 10:42 GMT | 2 |
Hi! Recently I've been noticing bites about a 1/8 inch wide in some of my hygros...only 3 or 4 here and there and they are usually on the new leaf shoots. Some of the ends of the java fern and crypts are also missing...I don't know if those are bites.

Just goofing off yesterday, did some rearranging... low and behold, my kribs decided to arrange things back, and then they moved out... they had this clay pot and have used it for 2 batches recently... Sunday, they decided they liked the accomodations under the driftwood instead... ...

| Tadpoles are eating my water lilies! Help! | 25 Jun 2004 18:38 GMT | 4 |
Tadpoles are devouring my water lilies one leaf at a time. Is there any way to keep this from happening? What can I do to eliminate the tadpoles? Will the water lilies grow back if the floating leaves all get eaten?

| what best to feed ramshorn snails instead of the plants in my tank? | 25 Jun 2004 15:49 GMT | 1 |
Howdy, Even though red ramshorns are supposed to be more plant friendly than the orange ones, 50 of them still reak havoc on many plant species since my original pair started to make like they were on the Discovery Channel.

| CO2 reactors / breweries. | 25 Jun 2004 15:35 GMT | 2 |
Whilst looking for a better bottle / tub / barrel to build a new co2 reactor, I happened on a home brew shop. I found the perfect 15 litre sealed barrel, which not only gives me a massive co2 output, but is also easy to clean and maintain.

| Cheap bunch of plants | 25 Jun 2004 11:01 GMT | 1 |
Well, little-league baseball season is almost over. My poor tanks have been neglected for the past few months. The 75g was massively overgrown, and many plants were being starved for light. So I finally got in there tonight and did massive pruning.

| idiot query re. plants and lighting... | 24 Jun 2004 23:58 GMT | 8 |
I wonder if anyone can help me with a (very stupid, I think) query regarding artificial lighting and plants. Everything I read on the net tells me that planted tanks need artificial light. What I would like to know is why? If I have a tank in a position with bright natural light ...

| Is 130gph enough filtration/water movment for a 55G planted tank? | 24 Jun 2004 17:16 GMT | 7 |
I started playing around with my Fluval 404 in preparation for getting my 55G planted tank finally setup. I have a bunch of plumbing connected to it (partly base tmax's design) and according to my calculations/tests I have a flow rate of around 130gph (down from the 225gph ...

| Duplarit G -- is it worth the money? | 24 Jun 2004 07:48 GMT | 6 |
I seem to have learned the basics of keeping the fish alive, but am still hopeless with aquatic plants,so am considering starting again using Duplarit G in the substrate. So here are my circumstances--perhaps someone will be kind enough to advise whether Duplarit will be worth the ...

Ok, I've had a few aquariums for over a year now, so I think I'm ready to start my first planted tank. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on and have asked questions at the LFS, but now I'm overloaded with info.
