CO2 Contoller compatability30 Sep 2004 01:12 GMT1
I'll be visiting the USA soon (from Europe) and am thinking of picking
up a Milwaukee SM 122 PH Controller.  I know I will need a new 220v to
12v power adaptor to power the device, but my question is, will the
driver or relay within the device power a 230V solenoid (as opposed to

Ok. So i made a bubble counter this weekend. i took a small lidded jelly
jar, drilled two holes, placed two lengths of rigid air tube into the hole,
one protrudes below the water level in the jar, one above. Now i can count
my CO2 bubbles. Now what? What am I counting for? i ...
Green Water23 Sep 2004 23:31 GMT5
I'm just wondering what the consensus on what the cause of green water is now a days?
I've heard everything from too much Fe, too much Nitrates, too much NH4, etc.  I don't have green water currently, but I did get it a lot when I first got into plants a few years ago.  I really ...

Hornwort dies - why?23 Sep 2004 01:22 GMT5
I setup a new tank, treated the water, dropped ph to about 7.1 or so, and
then let it sit for a few days. I put some honrwort in the tank, and within
24 hours most of the needles had fallen off. Temp is about 76-78. I've grown
hornwort in a similar tank before, and it grew like ...

Hair/Beard Algae22 Sep 2004 01:21 GMT16
I've been fighting a losing battle with hair/beard on my plants and black
brush algae on a piece of driftwood.
Tank is 130 litres, my nitrates are always within 5-10 mg/l, tested every
2-3 days, regular (every 7 days) 25% water changes, thorough and deep
Had an interesting idea for a filter21 Sep 2004 15:12 GMT2
I had this idea for a filter for a fish tank, I dont know if it has ever
been done before, but here was what i was thinking.
Basicly it combines an undergravel filter and a regular powered filter.
But my idea was to build a regular powered filter into two sections one

Nitrates and Phosphates out of control20 Sep 2004 22:55 GMT2
I'm having a hard time in my tank with algae, I believe due to the fact that
I can't get my nitrate and phosphate levels right.  I hope someone has some
advice, or can tell me if I'm doing the right thing and just need to be
patient.

I have a 46 gallon with a glass hood.  Over the past 8 months I've
