Plants, algae, & fertilizers - help!31 Dec 2004 23:12 GMT2
I've posted this on a few forums (on fishforums.com) because I haven't
received responses and I'm impatient!  I hope that's not a forum faux
pas.
Perhaps somebody here has an idea.
Looking for a better needle valve for CO231 Dec 2004 23:01 GMT20
I am looking for a better needle valve.  I am presently using a cheap home
depot valve that just doesn't work.  You can go from no bubbles to blowing
the reactor of the side of the tank in about a ¼ turn even at pressures less
than 5PSI.  I presently use this by closing the valve ...
will java moss grow along driftwood?31 Dec 2004 22:19 GMT1
My Java moss seems to be attaching to the wood only where I strapped it
down.  I kinda thought it would creep along the wood as it grew, but
this doesn't seem to be happening.  Is this normal?
Water return strategies31 Dec 2004 16:08 GMT6
Do you guys have any tips on how to return the water from a canister filter
so that it doesn't come out in such a cataract at one location?  It blows
around all the plants in the corner where it comes in, and when I look at
pictures on planted aquaria (granted they could have the ...
KH = 0?!?!31 Dec 2004 05:14 GMT3
I recently moved and just discovered that my new tap water has a KH of 0
degrees.  I've never heard of this.  My question is: Is baking soda a viable
KH increaser or is there a product available that I should be using?  Does
baking soda increase any other mineral content such as ...

I've had the planted aquarium now for about 1 year....
Nutrients and dosing30 Dec 2004 02:37 GMT3
I'm a planted aquaria newbie.
Just wondering: when dosing, the nutrients dosed are added into the water
but most water plants have roots in the substrate. Therefore, how does an
aquatic plant with roots in the substrate asorb the nutrients? Thanks.
Bacterial Bloom and Anacharis28 Dec 2004 15:59 GMT3
Hello, I have a 20g tank witha nasty bacterial bloom. I'd like to get
some anacharis in there mainly because I like live plants, and I don't
have a very bright lighting system. The problem is, I am currently
cutting the lights to being on for about 2 or 3 hours, due to the
Newbie to Plants26 Dec 2004 23:17 GMT4
Ok,  I have an established 45 gallon fish tank (10+ years).  I have
artificial plants and would like to replace them with real ones.
So here are my 'dumb' questions:
What plants should I start with?
what to look out for in terrestrial fertilizer?26 Dec 2004 04:35 GMT5
When buying terrestrial fertilizers to use in the aquarium, what are big
no-no ingredients to look for?  I know to look out for urea and copper, what
else? Thanks!

Advice appreciated ...Large Planted Aquarium25 Dec 2004 00:31 GMT4
I have (successfully) had planted aquariums for several years now and
consider myself to be reasonably knowledgeable about them in general.
The largest tank I have had however is only 30 gallons. I know very little
about larger tanks.
Ludwigia Palustrus available-FREE23 Dec 2004 20:46 GMT1
I have a lot of Ludwigia Palustrus (Narrow Leaf Ludwigia)-see a picture
here>> http://www.aquariumplants.com/cgi-bin/cart/bp018.html
I have to trim. Rather than tossing the clipped tops, I thought maybe
someone here would want them. I will not clip them until I have someone
SMALL BUGS LIVING UNDER THE LIGHT HOOD... HUH?23 Dec 2004 07:19 GMT6
I have had these small greenish looking bugs all over the underside of
my light canopy  for years now, well since I brought home water plants. I
have gotten rid of the plants because I did not have time to clean the
filters because of my job sending me all over the country. . . ...
