Gravity dripper (IV drip)27 Feb 2005 19:01 GMT1
I decided to try the IV drip method for fertilizing my plant tank, after
reading about it here. So I headed off to my favourite junk (surplus) store
to see what they had in medical supplies. I found a FLU VEN 0160 for $2.95
CND, which is rated at 20 drops per ml. I was hoping for ...
Brown Spots on Plant27 Feb 2005 03:53 GMT11
I recently set up a 20 gallon tank, and added some plants. One of them
developed brown spots on the leaves. You can see the photo at

It's planted in the middle of the tank, where there is more light. Could

Hi everyone ... we bought an aquarium for our school about 6 months ago and
everything's been going swimmingly until this last couple weeks.  There were

I have just started up a tiny (5 gallon) aquarium.  I decided to try
Help: DIY CO2 disaster26 Feb 2005 14:30 GMT14
Yesterday my DIY CO2 reactor (coke bottle) fell over and managed to dispense
just under 1/4 of the total mixture in to my tank(tube goes in to Fluval
filter). My wife just called to tell me the aquarium water is a milky white
color and some fish are dead. She indicated that It ...
Need More Light; Hood Options?26 Feb 2005 04:44 GMT4
I have a 55 Gallon setup, that is typical of what you get at Petsmart. It's
about 4.5 feet long, maybe 18 inches deep. It has two hood lights. I
recently moved to live plants, and some are doing well, but some are not.
For example my Amazon Sword Plants seem to be starving. My gut ...
Retroactive Quarantine?25 Feb 2005 13:57 GMT3
I've recently setup a new 55 gallon tank. I let it run for a while,
then stocked it with a bunch of plants and three tetras from my LFS.
Yesterday, I read on the skepticalaquarist.com a strong argument for
quaratine for new fish, and for salt and parasite treatments, and for

some trimmings to get started. I'd gladly pay for shipping of course.
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!
Looking for plants in WI24 Feb 2005 01:03 GMT3
I am looking for a good supply of plants in Central Wisconsin.  The local
LFS in infested badly with snails, and who knows what.  So many the plants
look brown.  And the variety is limited to one type.
In a nearby city, the chain Pet Stores don't have a clue what they have, and
Complete aquatic plant fertilizer for fishless tank?23 Feb 2005 12:54 GMT1
Does anyone know of a complete aquatic plant fertilizer that could be
used in a fish-free bowl?  I want to start growing some java moss and
hornwort for a pond I'm planning.  PMDD looks close, but it lacks
phosphate and I suspect is lower in nitrate and potash than I will need.
fertilizers from greg watson22 Feb 2005 16:57 GMT5
I want to give his stuff a try but unclear on which formula to buy.
What is the difference between PMDD Pre-Mix and CSM+B Plantex? Should I
get both? All I currently use is flourish and some iron tabs.
Pinpoint Ph Controller Q22 Feb 2005 07:33 GMT1
Does anyone know if the probe on a Pinpoint Ph Controller is totally
submersible, or is it necessary to keep the top part (where the wire exits
the unit) dry ???
Thanks for any help.
Pongol?21 Feb 2005 15:04 GMT2
I bought some new plants the other day and silly me didn't get the botanical
name of it.
It just had Pongol in chinagraph pencil on the tank glass. I bought 4 of
them.
Substrate21 Feb 2005 08:34 GMT5
I've just transformed my 29 gal tank into a planted tank.  Added CO2,
lights to make 2 wpg, but I didn't change the substrate.  I have just
plain aquarium gravel right now.  Will this do OK?  I'm assuming there
are plenty of differing opinions, but any suggestions would be helpful.
