Java Fern reproduction31 Jul 2005 04:21 GMT2
How does Java Fern seed itself? I've got a Java Rock in the Betta tank and
I've started to notice some Algae growing. One spot of Algae has long
threads growing from it, bit it's too thick for Hair Algae. It looks like

Need help setting up lighting29 Jul 2005 19:41 GMT7
I've been out of the hobby for over a decade but I ended up with a
great deal on a huge acrylic tank (79.5x18.25x24) that I just couldn't
pass up. However, I've never dealt with an acrylic tank before and
noticed that there are two "holes" cut out of the top piece for
Maracyn in UK29 Jul 2005 19:20 GMT3
Is Maracyn available in the UK - I assume vets may stock it?
Just in case BGA rears its ugly head.  I may be paranoid but I think
can see a little creeping up from the bottom of my substrate, visibl
from the front glass.  I've heard that Maracyn is great at treating it

I'm obviously new here so "hello" to you all.
I'm not too sure how in depth you guys go with planted tanks so
apologise in advance if this seems an odd question - if it's not an od
question then great, perhaps someone can help!
eco-complete raises GH.  So are discus out of the question?26 Jul 2005 03:03 GMT1
Hi everybody...
My goal in setting up my 55 has been to get to a point where I had a
well planted tank with discus.  I knew this would be work, but it seems
I may have missed a key point...  although the KH and GH of my tapwater
Slow growth in a small tank23 Jul 2005 02:53 GMT5

Thanks.
My small planted tank (60cm long) has never really taken off and I don't
seem to be getting the growth from my plants that I would like. I have high
Aquarium substrate for planted tank22 Jul 2005 05:04 GMT3
I am getting ready to setup a planted 75 gallon aquarium tank.  I have put
about an inch layer of Flourite on the bottom of the aquarium.  I want to
use play sand from Toys R. Us or a hobby store for the substrate.  My
questions is how hard is this to keep clean?  And will it ...
Trouble finding SAE!!!21 Jul 2005 17:29 GMT9
I'm having a hell of a time finding a Siamese algae eater here in Windsor
(Ontario).  Does anyone know of any good fish shops in Detroit or the
Windsor area where I can find these little guys?  My planted tank is
suffering from green hair algae and I've read that the SAE's do a ...

Have any of you found a reputable online store where one can
buy aquarium plants?

What's the best way to rid a lake (27 year old condo property) waterline of a tree-weed species?...19 Jul 2005 02:58 GMT11
It's a small batch Alder trees that once established they just go wild and,
considered more like a weed in the Norhwest.
Is there a product on the market where I could snip them young and rub
something on the cut area and have it affect ***only*** its own root system?
What do I do with the plants now?18 Jul 2005 16:55 GMT4
Okay, so I bought a plant (oz-something sword?) and just dropped
it into my betta's 2.5 gallon tank. He liked it so much that I
decided to buy another plant (mini sword?). This time I read the
plant sign on the tank(s) at Wal-Mart. It said that I should
Help identify plant17 Jul 2005 06:01 GMT6
I stopped at the LFS to pick up some Java Moss for the GF and I saw an
interesting red plant for the Tropical tank. Unfortunately I wasn't paying
enough attention to the name and I can't make out the invoice. It looks
something like Red Strata, but I could not find any plants ...
Eheim thermofilter16 Jul 2005 21:05 GMT1
I think I broke the temperature control for my Eheim professional II
thermofilter... the control fell in a bucket of water and I didnt discover
it untill a couple of hrs later. The LCD display is blank. I let it dry out
but still no display, the pump is working fine.
DIY trickle filter16 Jul 2005 03:29 GMT1
I'm researching/designing my own wet/dry trickle filter. There seems to
be an abundance of info on the net but one thing still baffles me. How
is everyone getting a $15 powerhead to lift water from the filter back
into the top of the tank? I have tried several methods with the ...
