KH GH PH co230 Nov 2005 01:02 GMT5
Hi Folks: I use RO water in a planted tank - but having difficulties keeping
the water "harder". Tank is 54 gallons, with co2 injection.
I'm using Seachem's Equillibrium but my GH/KH readings are very low.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking of using half tap water and half RO water to

I recently got a canopy for my 60gal planted tank, what type of lights do
you mount up inside the canopy. Is there ever a problem with the wood
burning?

Plant basics?22 Nov 2005 18:08 GMT20
All,
I've been doing a lot of research on how to keep plants and am hoping
someone would be kind enough to confirm or correct my conclusions and
answer some questions.
Substrate22 Nov 2005 17:03 GMT3
I have decided to put some plants in my 10g aquarium at my office. The
substrate is what i consider to be 'generic aquarium gravel.' Is this
going to be a problem? What kind of plants will grow in this, if
anything? I have installed a 15W Light Glow 2 bulb in the hood of the
Lighting Question21 Nov 2005 17:13 GMT2
I currently have 29g planted tank, with 25w of lighting, which I feel is
probably not sufficient.  Can anyone tell me where I can find a brighter
lighting housing for my aquarium?  I would assume that I will have to
replace the entire lighting assembly, correct?
Do plants lower the pH?19 Nov 2005 19:14 GMT4
All,
My water's pH is 7.4 and as stable as the day is long (have a
not-planted tank and the pH never fluctuates - this is the pH out of
the tap).
55 watts of light for 26 gallon ?18 Nov 2005 03:53 GMT2
I have a 26 gallon bow front tank with a 55 watt flourescent and 55
watt actinic light.
Is this 55 watt Flourescent enough for a "jungle type" (Plants that
require high light and nutrients)  tank as referenced by
Miscellaneous Algae questions18 Nov 2005 03:51 GMT1
I've currently got BGA, Green Dust Algae and possibly Black spot Algae in my
planted tank. They're all pretty much under control (as long as I don't get
lazy), but the Green Dust Algae is the biggest PITA.
Questions:
buying plants online/mail order (Australia)17 Nov 2005 12:10 GMT6
Can anyone recommend any Australian companies that have mail order and/or
online sales of plants for tropical freshwater tanks? I'm not after anything
fancy, just standard stuff for a new community setup. Thanks, Paul.

I just had my 20# CO2 cylinder filled up two weeks ago and the damn thing is
empty again!
I used the plastic washer (1) AND Teflon tape to be on the safe side. I put
the regulator on REAL tight, dumped the whole thing in the bathtub and

New plant question, please help...14 Nov 2005 20:09 GMT7
I asked this on another forum and got no answer, so hopefully you all
will have an idea:

Flourite issue help me13 Nov 2005 22:47 GMT12
I am setting up a live plant aquarium.  I put 45 pounds of Flourite in
a 26 gallon bow front tank.  I dont think I cleaned the Flourite good
enough cause my water is now the color of Chocolate Milk.  Practically
zero visibility.  How long will this last?  Is it better if I just turn
