Any one interested in some hornwort?30 Apr 2006 20:34 GMT13
Any one interested in some hornwort? Mine is growing back strong and I will
soon either have to throw it into the compost pit or sell it to some one. If
anyone wants any and doesn't mind totally reimbursing me i can send some to
you./them. Good luck and later!
plants wanted30 Apr 2006 01:56 GMT4
I'm looking for aquatic mosses and ferns and can't find any
store local that carries any, nor have I managed to locate
a Canadian firm who will send them by mail.
I'm not looking for anything super exotic, even a source of
Beard Algae in a 10G30 Apr 2006 01:55 GMT3
I've got beard algae in my 10G tank. I was curious if someone could
reccomend a good fish or product that would take care of the algae?
The tank is about two years old, and fully cycled. The only inhabitants
are a group of 7 neon tetra. The tank gets water changes of 20% every
Help!!! new aquarium and have never had one30 Apr 2006 01:49 GMT3
Ok My daughter, while at Walmart, wanted a gold fish. It was her own
money and thought ok...... now I think what the heck have I done lol.
We had a bowl but that lasted a week when hubby went and got a 30 gal
tank. Cool. But I went on a shopping tangent lol. I loved the little
PlantFest 2K6 and last year's Plant fest in TFH28 Apr 2006 15:21 GMT3
Thanks to Kevin for the write up in THF for the event.
He gave a good account of what the event entails.
For those willing to take a few days out and not leave the USA, but
still want the experience, the Plant Fest 2K6 is going to be this June
wasabi farming28 Apr 2006 07:00 GMT1
This might be slightly off topic, but I thought you might be
interested. I write an e-zine about aquaculture, and I've recently
published an interview with Michel Van Mellaerts who (with his wife)
have developed a method of growing wasabi in a recirculating system. In
"watts per gallon"26 Apr 2006 14:04 GMT3
This standard American measure of lighting presents a problem -
fluorescent lights produce anywhere from 30 to 110 lumens/watt!
I'd like to come up with a metric conversion (it would be
lumen-hours/liter). A survey of what aquarists really use could
possible DIY dosing equipment?21 Apr 2006 19:00 GMT4
I was thinking about possible ways to create a DIY dosing mechanism. I
have seen people using electric timers with some hoses etc. used to
measure out a little bit of ferts at a time. This is a little more
complicated than I feel I can tackle right now.
Re: Lowering ph14 Apr 2006 13:05 GMT3
K is potassium, an alkali. Yes, it will raise pH.
I use a water-softening resin (after chloramine removal)
then find that sulphuric acid (pH lower) added slowly over a
week bring pH to 6.5, which is where I want it for
Plastic pots11 Apr 2006 15:04 GMT5
Anytime that one of my plants has arrived in a little plastic pot
stuffed with that white packing stuff I have removed the pot as well
as the white stuff. What do others do? What are the pros and cons,
other than the fact that the plants are more easily moved about if
Tank setup problem - Kitty litter substrate "puffing up"09 Apr 2006 16:02 GMT4
Would love some help.... Am in the midst of setting up a 10 Gallon tank
which is going to be planted/low-maintenance acquarium. Plan for
substrate was as follows 1in kitty litter (walmart special kitty)
terraced up to 1.5 inches towards the rear of the tank. Litter would
VHO vs. Standard Fluorescent08 Apr 2006 20:34 GMT5
My light hood has a sticker that says 30" / 20watt. Does this mean it is
only safe to use a 20 watt bulb in it and that I will need to buy a new
hood, specially made to handle VHO bulbs if that's what I want to go with?
Thanks,
Pruning and Dividing Anubias07 Apr 2006 10:16 GMT1
Is there a general rule of how much rhizome to remove from an anubia? I
want to split my larger one, but I want to make sure to leave enough
rhizome/root/leaves to make sure it survives the division.
Also, the anubia recently had two blooms, once the flower has
