| plants wanted | 30 Apr 2006 01:56 GMT | 4 |
I'm looking for aquatic mosses and ferns and can't find any store local that carries any, nor have I managed to locate a Canadian firm who will send them by mail. I'm not looking for anything super exotic, even a source of

I've got beard algae in my 10G tank. I was curious if someone could reccomend a good fish or product that would take care of the algae? The tank is about two years old, and fully cycled. The only inhabitants are a group of 7 neon tetra. The tank gets water changes of 20% every

This might be slightly off topic, but I thought you might be interested. I write an e-zine about aquaculture, and I've recently published an interview with Michel Van Mellaerts who (with his wife) have developed a method of growing wasabi in a recirculating system. In

| "watts per gallon" | 26 Apr 2006 14:04 GMT | 3 |
This standard American measure of lighting presents a problem - fluorescent lights produce anywhere from 30 to 110 lumens/watt! I'd like to come up with a metric conversion (it would be lumen-hours/liter). A survey of what aquarists really use could

| possible DIY dosing equipment? | 21 Apr 2006 19:00 GMT | 4 |
I was thinking about possible ways to create a DIY dosing mechanism. I have seen people using electric timers with some hoses etc. used to measure out a little bit of ferts at a time. This is a little more complicated than I feel I can tackle right now.

| Re: Lowering ph | 14 Apr 2006 13:05 GMT | 3 |
K is potassium, an alkali. Yes, it will raise pH. I use a water-softening resin (after chloramine removal) then find that sulphuric acid (pH lower) added slowly over a week bring pH to 6.5, which is where I want it for

| Plastic pots | 11 Apr 2006 15:04 GMT | 5 |
Anytime that one of my plants has arrived in a little plastic pot stuffed with that white packing stuff I have removed the pot as well as the white stuff. What do others do? What are the pros and cons, other than the fact that the plants are more easily moved about if

| VHO vs. Standard Fluorescent | 08 Apr 2006 20:34 GMT | 5 |
My light hood has a sticker that says 30" / 20watt. Does this mean it is only safe to use a 20 watt bulb in it and that I will need to buy a new hood, specially made to handle VHO bulbs if that's what I want to go with? Thanks,

| Pruning and Dividing Anubias | 07 Apr 2006 10:16 GMT | 1 |
Is there a general rule of how much rhizome to remove from an anubia? I want to split my larger one, but I want to make sure to leave enough rhizome/root/leaves to make sure it survives the division. Also, the anubia recently had two blooms, once the flower has
