I'm new here, and this is my first post.
What is the scoop on using native river and pond plants in the
community freshwater aquarium?

Adding a 2nd CO2 reactor27 Aug 2006 11:01 GMT4
I currently have an Aqua Medic 500 reactor in 1 corner of my tank
driven by my Eheim 2217.
I'm losing some CO2 from the base of the reactor, so I'm going to add
a 2nd reactor which I'll put in the other corner to help with CO2
No more Green Dust Algae23 Aug 2006 01:07 GMT3
I would like to share a good experience with everybody of this groups. For a
couple of months I fought a battle against the so called Green Dust Algae.
The growth of this harmless (?) but annoying algae was so quick that I had
to wipe the screens every other day. Sometimes, the ...
SeaClear System II and lighting21 Aug 2006 16:37 GMT3
I have a 40 Gallon SeaClear System II tank. The included hood sits in
the opening of the aquarium. See

for an image. The problem with this hood is that it only holds a 24"
FREE-I have 2 complete aquariums with fish and plants I need to give away to someone in CT/MA this weekend19 Aug 2006 17:28 GMT1
Due to a major remodel coming up at my house next week and a lack of
interest in keeping up with the setup I have 2 tanks and all accessories
including 2 large sword plants that I need to get out of the house this
weekend! We are talking top quality equipment that needs a little ...
Algae film on surface of water18 Aug 2006 22:18 GMT1
A surface film of algae appears ~2-3 days after a weekly water change. I'm
using compressed CO2, my understanding is that there should be no surface
movement of water. Water parameters are good and I dose daily with
recommended Seachem nutrients. Densely planted, fish ...

Bacterial Bloom and Anacharis17 Aug 2006 18:41 GMT2
Hello, in a 20g tank witha nasty bacterial bloom,  I'd like to get
some anacharis in there. I like live plants, and I don't
have a very bright lighting system. The problem is, currently
the lights are on for about 2 or 3 hours, due to the bacterial bloom.
bubbles07 Aug 2006 00:23 GMT2
Hi, I was doing a water change for my 60 gal planted tank (florite/gravel
mix) and while I was cleaning the gravel, noticed
a lot of bubbles being liberated... is this CO2 ? O2 and shoud I be worried
about it?
My Anacharis/Elodea plants are dying,...What do I do???06 Aug 2006 19:08 GMT5
I don't have them planted, but instead I have them floating in long
strands on the surface of my Betta tank. They seem to be dying at one
end, with the disease or whatever, slowly working itself to the other
end.  Does anyone have any suggestions on just what I should do, because
Diatom filters04 Aug 2006 19:34 GMT2
Is anyone out there using a Diatom (like a Vortex D-1) filter in a
planted
tank???  Is it safe to keep a filter like this in place continuously?
There's a recurring problem with "green/cloudy" water..  The UV
Why no pearling?01 Aug 2006 19:18 GMT5
I have a new tank (4 days old).  The first 3 days I had lots and lots of
pearling on the leaves of my plants.  As of this morning (about noon), this
has stopped.
Some facts:
In seach of plants01 Aug 2006 16:54 GMT3
I will soon be setting up a new Rio 180, which will be heavily plante
with soft water plant. I am at the moment in search for a good sit
which sells plants, since the price of them in the shop is to
impracticle for the number of plants i require
air bubbles on leaves after water change - why?01 Aug 2006 10:45 GMT3
here's one I can't figure out. After I do a water change, the leaves of all
my plants are covered with little tiny air bubbles for about a day. The
water chemistry is a very close match to my tap water (well water). The
plants are in laterite inder a layer of gravel..... Does ...
