I'm not sure exactly what's up, but my older boy rat, Ed, seems to
have something wrong with one of his back legs.  It's not bumblefoot,
from what I can tell, but he isn't using the foot.  He doesn't walk
around much anymore, and I'm not sure what's wrong.  I'm really

My beautiful Shai came to live with me in May of 2002. I bought him at a
Barrie pet store, after seeing him cramped in a 10 gallon tank with his two
brothers and two older rats. The older rats where picking on the young ones
that were always cowering in a corner. So I bought Shai ...

Uh-oh!  I bought a biter!26 Aug 2003 08:44 GMT3
I was at the pet store today and spotted this old fellow by himself in a
cage.  He's a real cutie, too -all black dumbo and is quite large.  He was a
sweetie and my son and I held him with no problem.  The two guys in the pet
store said that he was a gentleman.  He sure was lovable. ...

Following on from my post a few weeks ago (2 litters, 29 ratlets!!), my wife

Rats Experience Disappointment & Delight25 Aug 2003 10:56 GMT7
Of course, we already knew rats have complicated emotions, but this
morning I was reading some behavioral studies (articles are upstairs so
I'm going to paraphrase badly without the citation). The set-up for the
rats was this: They had to run a long straight course to a food reward.
Vitakraft "Sticks for Rats"25 Aug 2003 10:15 GMT2
After discussion with a friend about our rats' strange taste for matches,
I thought it might be helpful to provide them with a supplement, in case

I chose Vitakraft "Sticks for Rats" ("Kracker" in German) Corn & Fruit,
