Hi there all. Everyone here seems like such caring, knowledgeable "rat
parents". :o)
We have two new additions of their kind ever to our family: adorable
rats. Having read about the dangers of cedar on this board, I ran out

Ratties fight all the time.30 Nov 2003 08:45 GMT3
I just got my first rat about a year ago and got her a cage mate about six
months later.  at first they would fight all the time even reaching through
the bars of their seppereate cages to try
to swipe at each other eventually I got so frustrated with the slow and easy
My poor baby29 Nov 2003 16:31 GMT12
I don't think my "sweetie" will last the night....If you remember, I had
been treating her with baytril for Myco.  Although she didn't seem to get
much better, she wasn't getting worse....tonight she's lying on her side,
with labored breathing....please say a prayer for sweetie.....
baytril for sale29 Nov 2003 15:23 GMT2
I know this sounds a bit mercenary, but I lost my rat Yuri yesterday after
spending £25 on baytril....
The medicine is completely unopened and I am wondering whether anyone who
has been prescribed baytril for a rat longterm would want the bottle for

Rat Movies28 Nov 2003 08:21 GMT14
I have found an old movie at our local public library called "Ben".
It stars a trained rat.  Are there any other rat related movies?  I
have seen NIMH, etc.  How about some old time radio horror shows.

Here's the Situation27 Nov 2003 19:23 GMT12
Okay.  So I only have my one rattie guy.  (I know.  They're happier with
friends.)  Currently, I'm treating him for lice.  How is it possible for one
rat to get lice when he doesn't leave the house?  He doesn't have a social
life either, lol.  I use Care Fresh bedding and freeze it ...
let me get this straight--rats have feeble immune systems?26 Nov 2003 14:54 GMT16
It never crossed my mind till I was wondering about all the posts about rat
medication.  So, I looked at the gov't  and lab documents about the care and
handling of lab rats.
Seems to me that rats are used in the labs cause of their docility and their
So now I know where the emergency clinic is....26 Nov 2003 10:08 GMT6
Last night while the rats were out running around, shortly before we
were planning to go to bed, Astraea jumped Maia and bit her quite
badly.  So we were at the emergency veterinary clinic from 3:00 to
5:30.  Not fun.
Spot the resiliant rat25 Nov 2003 19:40 GMT6
Our rat "Spot" has had breathing difficulties almost fixed by Baytril.
She has had to go back to the vet since then because the problem is bad
again, and she's lost a lot of weight (not eating).
Apparently, She has Pneumonia. I had that disease when I was about 5. It
another bad food story25 Nov 2003 18:36 GMT1
I should just start calling 'Hey'--'Theif'--thats what she is, and she's
good at it.
After her mornin shoulder ride to the laundry room and the dumpster, (2 am),
I put her on the desk when I get online.  I have this one thin plank of
Training "killer rats"24 Nov 2003 18:35 GMT15

hosting for rat pics?24 Nov 2003 15:34 GMT4
I finally got a webcam to take home pics with but I really don't want to put
them on my really old and really lame geocities page.
Is there a hosting server I could upload to that is frequented by
rat-a-tats?
Phoenix the turncoat..LOL24 Nov 2003 12:47 GMT1
Periodically I take a couple of Rats out to visit my parents.  My Mum is a
Rat Convert having overcome her tremendous fear of their tails..:)  Anyway I
took Phoenix and Africa... I chose Africa for his outgoing nature and
Phoenix because he is pretty cruisy when it comes to meeting ...
