I came back from holiday yesterday to find an empty cage. We had two rats up
until 3 weeks ago but one died of a brain tumor (they were/are about 2.5
years old) so I assumed that her sister died while I was away and was quite

I finally got around to taking a picture of Pepsi's tumor. I hate to say it,
but her tumor actually looks bigger in real life.  another tumor started
growning on her chest by her right front leg.  doesn't look good.

So my my little fellow will everything except store-bought rat treats.  He's
about a year old, and I'm thinking that I've let him sample way too much
food. Does anyone know of a reasonable amount of rat food mix (kaybee) that
he should be eating per day?

I know I have read that rats can't regurgitate, but do they have the ability
(like hamsters, chipmunks) to "store" food in their mouth and then eat it a
few minutes later?
I've noticed a few times that when I give Maggie peas, she'll grab at 3 or 4

my rat grinds her teeth while she is pooing. i figure she is enjoying it
or in pain. does anyone have any ideas. she has always done it since i
got her? TIA

Yey there here i am getting them tomarrow while the owner is at work so i am
