dehydration & new rat31 Aug 2004 22:48 GMT13
I came back from holiday yesterday to find an empty cage. We had two rats up
until 3 weeks ago but one died of a brain tumor (they were/are about 2.5
years old) so I assumed that her sister died while I was away and was quite
upset. My husband got back home from the vets where ...
Pepsi's Tumor31 Aug 2004 22:43 GMT8
I finally got around to taking a picture of Pepsi's tumor. I hate to say it,
but her tumor actually looks bigger in real life.  another tumor started
growning on her chest by her right front leg.  doesn't look good.

Overweight rat.31 Aug 2004 12:02 GMT1
So my my little fellow will everything except store-bought rat treats.  He's
about a year old, and I'm thinking that I've let him sample way too much
food. Does anyone know of a reasonable amount of rat food mix (kaybee) that
he should be eating per day?

I have a female tan/white hairy in the winnipeg area that needs a home.
She is about 6mths old and is very passive. We have called her Rose for

Had him on my shoulder when I went outside to grab something out of my
motorcycle's saddlebags. He jumped off and decided that he wanted to steal
Help - overwhelmed with rat problems27 Aug 2004 11:07 GMT11
I'm finally back after having a complete catastrophic crash of my computer.
I finally found Maggie (my hairless lone girl) a companion through a rat
rescue.  I picked "Hailey" up over the weekend and was horrified to find
that she was infested with lice, was missing half her hair, ...
Overdue labour? URGENT27 Aug 2004 05:47 GMT3
Sorry if this isn't an urgent problem, I haven't been able to find any info
anywhere else.
Ok, as I write this, I'm waiting for the vets to open, just hoping I can
catch someone in another timezone reading this right now who can help.
Yay!  New Pets!26 Aug 2004 18:49 GMT3
Got some new pets for the rat.  Unfortunately it's lice.  Ickle tiny white
things with a red backside (presumably that's the blood).  Rat doesn't seem
to be scratching more than usual, there're no scabs and the only other thing
I can find on her is a little bit of dandruff!  I'm ...
worried26 Aug 2004 18:44 GMT12
I haven't posted for a while and now it's with bad news... I just
discovered a lump on Setsuko (she's 18 months old). The lump is fairly
small, about the size of a hazelnut. It's in her left armpit and it
feels soft and sort of loose (as if it's not attached to her body but

Ernie is an Agouti.
We have never had dumbo's before and they are adorable!! I've taken a couple
Another newbie question about feeding25 Aug 2004 05:56 GMT4
I know I have read that rats can't regurgitate, but do they have the ability
(like hamsters, chipmunks) to "store" food in their mouth and then eat it a
few minutes later?
I've noticed a few times that when I give Maggie peas, she'll grab at 3 or 4
