Injured toe nail?31 Jan 2005 05:26 GMT6
On inspection of Pierre tonight I noticed on his left hind leg, the nail on
the 3rd toe is all red (like it looks like blood inside the nail), and the
toe is slightly more pink than the others.  The nail is also about half as
short as the others (which are unfortunately quite long) ...
Ratty project30 Jan 2005 03:30 GMT8
I've thrown up a few new pics on Webshots (in a new album, "Momo's
bag," to make it easier to access them) of some of Momo's recent
doings in the teethwork department.  Sometimes they can actually use
those incisors for something reasonably constructive.

Goodbye, Keiichi30 Jan 2005 02:40 GMT8
They say that the true measure of a person's character is their
treatment of small animals. In this, I hope I have made Keiichi proud.
A previous post details Keiichi's rapid decline. A visit to the vet
confirmed that it was not a disease. The vet was unable to figure out
Hair Loss29 Jan 2005 19:10 GMT3
I noticed a couple of weeks ago my older rats had no fur on the sides of
there heads. I dont know if my littler guys are grooming them too much or
what. Reagans sorta grew back and then in no time at all it was gone again??
Just curious!!
Back from Mexico!! 29 Jan 2005 16:27 GMT7
Just got home from a week in Mexico, and had LOTS of posts in the newsgroup!
Firstly, my sincere condolences to Kate, Sue & Gershal for the losses of
your beloved Merlin, Sadie & Keiichi. It's always such an awful thing to go
through isn't it. They are all playing together at ...

I'm Wishing and Hoping...28 Jan 2005 15:22 GMT4
I have Spice, which she's still young (5 weeks maybe). She looks
exactly like Ringo when he was little so I'm hoping she may be a
Siamese too so then I can breed her and it will be for the better of
the breed. I'm just hoping. =)
babies are here! (pics)27 Jan 2005 19:49 GMT5
I picked up the new baby girls today.
The best news is that my old rat Bodie is still alive.. I so wanted her
to meet the new girls and have some company in her final days. Her
tumour is getting bigger and bigger but she is still very active and

Tyche27 Jan 2005 19:46 GMT5
Well, Tyche's gone now. She got very suddenly worse on Friday
afternoon, so I decided that at her (already scheduled) veterinary
appointment on Saturday we'd have her put to sleep, because she was
clearly having No Fun At All and not going to get better. The storm on
Need Help w/Chronic Upper Respiratory Problem27 Jan 2005 14:12 GMT3
I have a rat named Hector that's aproximately 2 1/2 years old (I'm not
exactly sure as I rescued/confiscated him from a mentally ill neighbor
who was severely negelecting him.) He's developed chronic wheezing which
I'm assuming is due to mycoplasma. I've tried two different combos ...
a different question about cages26 Jan 2005 23:14 GMT11
Hi all;
This thread above is very timely, as I just discovered this group yesterday.
I used to have rats as classroom pets in my grade five classroom, (kids are
10-ish) and after a few years away from it, have decided to do so again.  I

Ringo Changing color25 Jan 2005 22:24 GMT4
I have a question that seems like no one can answer it. When I first
got my rat, Ringo, I thought he was a beige hooded rat! He had a beige
hood and some beige on his body just like any other hooded rat would
look like. I always wanted a beige rat so that's why I picked him out
