My new ratty TOTE bag!01 Apr 2005 00:41 GMT7
Sorry it's been so long! Had nightmare home life and work life and just
didn't have time to reply to all the topics that have been raised over the
last couple of weeks - I've lurked and read many of the posts though and did
a quick reply where possible. Hope your all well x
Announcement31 Mar 2005 15:42 GMT11
Good morning, group.
At approximately 8:45 this morning, Louie, less than 26 weeks old, died.
He gave a rather loud squeal which woke me up, but as soon as I'd got to
him, just a few seconds later, there was nothing I could do.
"24-hour bug" for ratties?30 Mar 2005 10:53 GMT7
I'm not sure what to make of this...
One of our rats, Stardust (15 month old male), was very ill yesterday
-- he slept for most of the day, when I gave him a food block, he

He also has an "M" shaped white patch on his chest, but won't stay still
long enough for me to take a picture! Maybe one day...
Question for those people who use Carefresh.29 Mar 2005 20:42 GMT5
I have just read a post on another group, that somebody from the USA has
found a warning on the packaging on the side of the Original Carefresh that
says it may cause blockaging in the intestines of some small rodents.
Has anybody else seen this warning?
Rat vocalizations29 Mar 2005 20:35 GMT4
I have read now about ultrasound and audible vocalizations of rats. I
observed myself all kinds of chirping and squeaking sounds from rats.
Now I observed something strange. The females sometimes make humming
sounds, actually all in the same frequency, the small ones and the big
Running Away29 Mar 2005 02:08 GMT2
Hi group,
Question about Louie's behavior.
Sometimes he is completely hyper and un-managable. Sometimes he's really
 calm and loves being handled.

Apples Protect Rats from Colon Cancer26 Mar 2005 22:48 GMT9
A Strasbourg Germany study at the Institute for Cancerous Diseases of the
Intestinal Tract in Strasbourg has concluded that the consumption of
apples protects rats (& therefore probably humans) from colon cancer,
because antioxidants found in apples functions as a prophylatic for ...

I was looking through the Usenet listings from my ISP, and found this
group. Hopefully I'm in the right place to ask all sorts of questions
about my rat!
Too Many Rats24 Mar 2005 22:04 GMT2
AFP Story, March 25, 2005:
A mother and her 10-year-old daughter lived several months in a filthy
two-room apartment in the company of more than 100 rats, German police
said. The police were alerted to the situation after neighbours complained
For those of you with cats and rats24 Mar 2005 21:24 GMT14
I have 5 wonderful cats and 3 wonderful rats but obviously they don't play
together.  When my rat kids have their out time they go into the master
bathroom, where they have an elaborate little world set up around the
jacuzzi with a Barbie dreamhouse, oatmeal box tunnels and ladders ...
Animal Abuse Case At Long Last to Be Heard24 Mar 2005 18:16 GMT1
John W. Troy, age 48, of Yoncalla Oregon, is being taken to court over ten
charges of animal neglect made three years ago, as the wheels of justice
grind slowly onward. The slowness of the case was the result of a
paper-shuffling error as John Troy was just never assigned a court ...
