Silly rattie!01 Jul 2005 00:27 GMT2
LOL!
Willow, having fallen asleep on the top of a pile of CD cases, rolled
over in her sleep and promptly fell off onto the table! Scared the heck
out of me - she landed on her back, paws in the air, head back resting

Hello to all the good people here, and sorry I haven't been around here much

Water bottle28 Jun 2005 14:00 GMT2
I have this large rat water bottle, and ive noticed my rats had some trouble
of drinking from it, they both started to lick it at the same time to get
water out, but they are slowly learning to use their hands to push the ball
in?
Skin condition27 Jun 2005 10:44 GMT4
My silver Rex is 'living with' (or presumably dying from) myco; she's
hiding down my shirt at the moment and sneezing wetly on my stomach...
Because of the nature of her mutated coat, her fur has never been
particularly thick, but in the last few weeks I've started noticing
Losses25 Jun 2005 15:43 GMT4
With all the testing on rodents that they do, you would think they'd come up
with a way to make them live longer.  It is just so hard getting attached
and then losing them so soon.
Tonight I lost my favorite mouse, and I know this is a rat group and I
Just Dropping By...25 Jun 2005 09:44 GMT5
Hi Everyone.  I've not been able to catch up with the newsgroup as much as
normal, so thought I'd drop by whilst I have the chance.  One of my close
friends is very ill at the moment (widespread cancer) so I've been spending
most of the time with him at the hospital, doctors etc ...
Phoenix25 Jun 2005 08:49 GMT7
I noticed yesterday morning that Phoenix was stretched out in front of
the big box that they are currently trashing as a house, (instead of an
igloo).  A while later he was still there.  I also found it strange that
I hadn't seen any of the other boys around.  I opened the door ...
One rodent too many24 Jun 2005 20:39 GMT7
We live in a rural area and sometimes we get "uninvited guests" sneaking in,
like mice, lizards etc.  As a result I have this recurring nightmare that I
wake up, look in the rat cage, and there are more rats than there should be,
or other species in with the rats (once it was an ...
The colour Red.24 Jun 2005 02:52 GMT4
I am curious as to wether my boys can see the colour Red and if they can
if they see it properly?  I gave them some watered down Cranberry Juice
and although they loved it they would continually stand in it.  None of
them seemed to be able to lap at it like they do with their ...

Naked Mole Rats23 Jun 2005 03:15 GMT12
By Cindy Drukier and Jan Jekielek:
Research on an obscure rodent known as the naked mole rat (NMR) is helping
scientists uncover the secrets of eternal youth, and it doesn¹t look like
antioxidants are the key. ³Antioxidants are only one small factor in
Mammary tumour22 Jun 2005 20:04 GMT27
I haven't posted in the longest time, but today I found a small less than a
pea sized lump on Lucy's belly, just behind her armpit.  She will be seeing
the vet this Saturday and we will decide what to do.  <sigh>.  I wonder how
much surgery will cost here in Canada.  Anyway, wish ...

Fit/ choking/ Stroke?22 Jun 2005 14:29 GMT4
One of our rats (Scampi) has just had what looked like a fit. She was
standing on her hind legs, head thrown back and shaking, front paws making
a rapid digging motion. Rosemary grabbed her to check her mouth/throat, and
on tilting Scampis head back, the convulsions stopped. Very ...
