Rat ate my wife31 Jul 2005 22:35 GMT9
I think we've inadvertently created a small behavioural problem in our
guys...
We usually get our five out for a few hours in the evening on our bed.
Part of the routine involves everyone getting groomed, of course. Only
More tail injuries of unknown cause...31 Jul 2005 22:29 GMT4
Our eldest, Kairi (about 26 months old), is really having a lot of bad
'luck'. She's had a slow growing tumour for several months. Then she
gets a tail injury & we discover more large tumours.
Now after having the end of her tail amputated eight days ago, after it
"Rattie Bags"31 Jul 2005 13:15 GMT7
Ok, so who here gets "Doggie Bags" in restaurants to bring home to their
rats?  I do!  Yesterday we went to a very exclusive local "Grand Resort
Hotel" for lunch - we treat ourselves once every 3 or 4 months at this place
and they have a world-class chef and fine cuisine.  I didn't ...
Rat Noise31 Jul 2005 13:09 GMT4
I am a college student looking to get a rat as a pet.  I am moving into
a house with 5 other people and will therefore have to keep the rat in
my room. My question is will it make too much noise at night for me to
sleep well?  What kind of noise etc.?  Thanks.
when to neuter?27 Jul 2005 12:50 GMT8
I recently got my first male ratty - Isaac (I have 5 girls). He had been
sitting at the pet store alone for the last month and I couldn't stand
to leave him by himself any longer.
I would like to get the little guy snipped so he can live with my girls
Putting my rattie to sleep  :(27 Jul 2005 03:15 GMT10
I have been looking for a sitter to watch my rat Monkey when I go on
vacation, this was about two weeks ago. Well, since that time, he has
gotten rather worse.  I know he can hold out for a month longer maybe
two. I just don't know if I want that quality of life for him.  I just

Are the norway rat and roof rat close or the same as the pretty rats sold at
pet stores?
What is the best way to "Peel" an abcess25 Jul 2005 06:11 GMT4
My little hairless female, Peaches, has an abscess on her tummy. She squirms
like crazy now that it has come to the surface and I need to clean it out.
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to remove the covering and
making it easier to get it cleaned out.
Rat heartbeats24 Jul 2005 13:24 GMT3
We have a stethoscope in the house, left over from a relative who is a
nurse.  So this week I got it out and listened to my heart (75 bpm), and
just for kicks I listed to the cats' heart (approx. 175 bpm), and then for a
REAL thrill I listed to a rattie heart.  WOW!!!  There was NO ...
Another nebuliser & antibiotic question24 Jul 2005 01:58 GMT2
We bought our nebuliser to administer antibiotics for respiratory
problems with our rats, after Willow died, & thankfully haven't had
further reason to use it yet.
This week we've had Kairi, the last of our original gang of three, at

We're having a problem with fleas here at 'the zoo' this summer.  What's the
best thing to use on ratties for fleas?  Thanks in advance!

been treated before you can't blame him. He is now feeling his feet and has
3-legged rat question20 Jul 2005 02:14 GMT2
Some of you may remember that Jacques, my 10-month old boy, lost his right
hind leg due to a tumor last Christmas.  Since then his body has made
amazing modifications, including becoming EXTREMELY muscular and large in
the center, and his tail now permanently crooks over to the ...
New Rattie Playground 20 Jul 2005 01:36 GMT7
Tonight the rats are officially getting a new playground.  For the past
almost year (I got my first rattie last August!) the rats have had their
out/play time in our master bathroom.  It's quite big and has a big jacuzzi
area with a nice landing and I've had them set up with ladders ...
