Cheerios across the pond28 Nov 2005 23:57 GMT4
I finally picked up a box of Cheerios today to share with our rats,
after reading the recommendations here to use them as treats instead of
yoghurt drops.
I was a little surprised to find they're very high in sugar, given the

 Oh God!!
My wrinkly little Ninja is very poorly really struggling to breath and is quite cold to the touch, my son Ben has him covered up in his hoody to keep him warm.
I am glad that my Vets are open tomorrow Saturday as I think his time has come too.
I am just so pissed off ...
Wilf26 Nov 2005 12:11 GMT11
My little mate Wilf, the one left on the doorstep is having a hard time of
it at the minute and he has two seizures in the last fortnight and another
yesterday. It can go on from 15 minutes to an hour before he is back with
me.  He has a struggle breathing and he is getting ...

We (ratties and I) return after an extended period without a computer.  Our
hearts and condolences go out to those who lost loved ones, healing light
and prayers for those who are sick, and congratulations to all who have
added to their families.

I completely forgot to post about this!
Smudge turned up about a day after my last post. My father was out in
the yard working on one of our cars, and looked up to see Smudge sitting
on the concrete step outside one of the barns, looking right at him!

Hi all. I'm brand new to Google Groups and imagine I'll have trouble
taking advantage of its features. I've been "owned" by ratties for over
50 years. I'm "second generation".
I "hobby breed", that is I have never sold and only rarely allow any
Hello!21 Nov 2005 20:13 GMT5
Hi there!  I'm new to the group and wanted to introduce myself and my
Furkids.
I'm Kim.  I live in the Columbus, Ohio area.  I have two kids aged 11

Odd behaivour: Throwing food out of the bowl21 Nov 2005 19:48 GMT3
I've noticed this with a couple of older not-so-fit-anymore rats. The
behaivour seems to consist of spending long periods of time sitting or
sleeping in the food bowl, and then suddenly throwing huge amounts of the
food out into the cage, as if hunting for a special morsel, ...

Just wanted to pop in and let you all have a gander at my new boys!! :-)
I went and collected them this afternoon, and the previous owners very
kindly let me have their cage so I have re-vamped it a little as it was
FEEDING RATS21 Nov 2005 13:37 GMT3
I've inherited two male rats to save them from being put down. How do people
feel about giving them dog biscuits as part of thier diet. We currently give
dry rat mix plus fresh fruit or veg per day and they look really well

Hi. Rattie Pics (New here)21 Nov 2005 11:47 GMT15
Thought I'd share a few pics of Artaius and Taranis (Art and Tar for short)
I brought them home from a local pet store two weeks ago and they are
getting tamer by the day.
Tar I have to say is completely nuts and Art is the slightly shier of the
Why did I give them yoghurt :-)21 Nov 2005 09:58 GMT13
Thought I'd let you know about Art and Tars first 'gooey' treat.
Mixed them up a small dish of yoghurt, rocket and cheerios, Art grabbet a
rocket leaf covered in yoghurt and dragged it accross Tar who then jumped
onto me , up my arm, onto my shoulder and hid in my hair.
I've only gone and done it !!!!! (GMRS!!)21 Nov 2005 02:36 GMT6
Oh man! How long have I been saying "No more rats! My heart can't take the
losses?" - Well, my heart can't take the thought of ratties being unloved
either!!! LOL
I usually only browse around the rat rehoming page, I'm only keeping
