Chester's lump29 Jan 2006 10:35 GMT9
Last week I noticed a "huge" lump on my rat Chester's left side. Thinking it
would probably be some sort of tumor which would require surgery (or worse),
I called the vet on Monday morning. I took Chester to the vet on Monday
evening, and after doing a biopsy she concluded it was a ...

Wish us luck28 Jan 2006 02:46 GMT8
Miss Niobe is going in for a lump removal and spay next Wednesday.
This is the first time I've had a rat operated on at all, because it's
the first time I've had a vet who's really experienced with rat
surgery. (Ariadne got stiches under anesthesia, and assorted rats have

Hi and Happy New Year to one and all, ( Human and Ratty).
I haven't been on the computer much at all lately as we have school
holidays here. The kids have been home since the middle of December and
don't go back until the second week of February.

Rat Owners in Sussex, England26 Jan 2006 20:35 GMT1
Hi, I've recently got some info in the Rat Healthcare Day run by the
Thames Valley rat group. It's on the  end of May in Essex. I went to it
last year and would heartily recommend it to all rattie owners
(slaves).

Portia and Cressida (about 9 or 10 weeks old) finally slowed down enough for
me to snap a couple of pictures of them the other day.  They were hanging
out in the bathtub (rat spa!) while their palace was being cleaned and
refurbished.  They're not the greatest photos in the world ...
Question about Female Rats25 Jan 2006 17:09 GMT4
Hello everyone and am so sorry to hear about all the Babies who have past. I
try to post my condolences but for some reason they don't get posted. My
Question is it normal for female rats to want to be cuddled and petted. I
had females before but they usually just would do the ...
McMinn went to the Bridge25 Jan 2006 02:25 GMT9
It's been sometime since I last posted.  Unfortunately it's a sad post.
McMinn went to the Bridge during the night.  He never fully recovered from
his mini-stroke.  He didn't have the full use of his paws and had to eat and
drink directly from the bowl.  He would have bouts of ...
question...25 Jan 2006 00:07 GMT8
My daughter asked the cutest question, however I dont know the answer, maybe
someone in the group can help us out. Are all rats tails the same length? Oh
now shes asking if rats have belly buttons like us humans?
Thanks
Confirmed!22 Jan 2006 22:07 GMT6
I took Jazz to the vet today, and its confirmed she is preggers! Apparently
her belly is big (i dont see any changes but ok) Since I have been home ive
been reading some sites about what others do when their ratbert is pregnant.
Some say after the kits are born you can start feeding ...
Kairi, we miss you22 Jan 2006 18:17 GMT11
One of our first three rats, the last, has just been pts aged about 2
yrs 9 months. She was a gorgeous cheeky & always lively girl who loved
exploring, yet unlike some of the rest of our bunch, never sought to
cause mass destruction & was never a bully, despite being alpha for
Jolie Bleu22 Jan 2006 18:13 GMT11
My beautiful Jolie Bleu had to be pts on Wednesday due to myco.
She had been sick for a few months and had been on meds.
Last week, she was worse and started to panic when trying to catch her
breath. I knew it was time for her. It broke my heart because she along
Two sick rats22 Jan 2006 18:11 GMT5
In October, I adopted 4 girls from my OSPCA.
Two of them developed a severe infection in their genital area. Kate had
it worse than her sister Bébé. I brought both girls to my vet to see
what if anything could be done. At the time, we didn't know if it was an
