Just a quick hello to you all. I've been 'lurking' every now and then
and decided to just join in! LOL  I am a new mum to two baby girl rats
and I must say that you've all been really helpful in my need for info
BEFORE adopting the girls. Thank you all...and the videos...HILARIOUS!

lice (again)29 Dec 2006 04:41 GMT8
It looks like our last go around didn't get rid of all the lice, and they're

out cages. My question is, how well do we need to clean out the rats' play
area? Our vet said that lice can't survive without a ...

Thursday, Dec 21st, I answer and ad in our local Bargain Hunter. 3 rats
to give away, 1 male and 2 females. Free.
So I find out where they live and what's up with them? Mom says it's her
son's, he's tired of them and she's fed up with the smell. The male is

I was attacked for a cinnamon roll28 Dec 2006 11:20 GMT3
I made cinnamon rolls for Christmas Breakfast. The kind with cream cheese
icing. Yum. Well, I went near the girls cage and Stratocaster caught a
whiff. I got a bit of icing on my finger...well, I am lucky to still have a
finger. WOW, I have discovered a new "goodie" that they ...

I am looking for sources for a larger rat cage.  At the moment girls
have a 45gal tank but the boys only a 25  and even with free play time
I know this is MUCH too small.  I would dearly like to get larger cages
for all but the boys definately need it so they are the priority.  Used

To hopefully end a very sad year for us, we have had to have Chester PTS.
He had lost weight rapidly and was showing signs of respiratory distress
along with rear end paralysis.  All in all not a very happy chappy at all
really.  He looked tired and fed up so I thought he would ...

Hi Peeps
Wondering if anyone has any useful information out there to offer me. I have
just taken in a 6 week old puppy that was absolutly riddled in fleas and a
bit lifeless for a puppy. There are still 9 puppies left at the house and

I wanted to start a post where we could all add our ideas on how to
spoil our rats this Christmas.  Call me crazy, but I've already gotten
their stockings, now I just need ideas on what to put in it.
This is the first Christmas my rats are spending with me and I need

I've noticed the past week or so, Pepper has become more and more
aggressive towards his cagemate, Pippin.
They seem to be boxing more and more and Pepper has started the
"crabwalk" which I understand from reading on the internet is ratspeak

Splinter has gone home20 Dec 2006 04:23 GMT7
Yes, another of our little ones has crossed the bridge. She had been ailing
from age quite badly. I knew it was coming. I did not put her to sleep with
the others last week. I could tell she would just slip away in the cuddles
of her friends. Which is what she did. I found her ...
