update on Coco31 Jan 2007 16:51 GMT3
Coco is doing better than he was, he's moving about more now and climbing
the cage. He still doesnt appear to be eating much but is eating a little
and is drinking. He looks more healthier in himself but still underweight.
Took him to the vets and vet was puzzled as teeth ect are ...

Seeing as Tracy was kind enough to ask....
Kai was pain bruxing on Friday night so I gave him 1 drop of Metacam.
He spent Friday night on the sofa with me and his cagemates rotated to
keep him company.
Diarrhea odour from my buck31 Jan 2007 04:19 GMT4
My hairless buck smells like diarrhea! He doesnt have the runs at all
in fact we just got back from the vets and both my boys are in perfect
health. I asked the vet and he said that it could just very well be
thats his smell. Does anyone else have a buck or a doe that stinks
To rat owners in the Northern Ontario area31 Jan 2007 03:55 GMT7
Apparently The Ark petshop is closing/relocating and apparently there
are 4 adult rats left.  My friend doesn't know if they are male or
females or what will happen to them but I thought I'd post it here if
any of you had room for them.
RIP Meeratz Zwart (aka BrokenRat) 18 July 2004 - 28 Jan 2007.31 Jan 2007 00:21 GMT9
I've been trying to type this for hours, I just can't believe my
BrokenRat has passed on.
He was fine at 22:00 last night stuffing himself with Chinese Style
Spare Ribs.  He was eating his beloved Squirty Cream like there was no

a friend of mine who owns three (old) rats has told me that he also owns
hermit crabs. they can live for up to 15 years and there is a whole
community of people who have them as pets. they grow up to the size of a
softball and he swears that they can recognize their owners and ...
advice needed please on Coco30 Jan 2007 03:41 GMT6
On Friday I noticed that Coco wasnt his normal self but wasn't too worried.
I went away for the weekend and left a friend to care for the ratties and I
know they were cared for. Tonight I went to check on the boys and feed them
and Coco came to the door so I lifted him up. He has ...
Tylan: where to buy?29 Jan 2007 00:40 GMT4
I need some Tylan to treat mycoplasma in rats, this stuff should be
non-prescription but I called and visited several vets and they all want to
"see the animals" first. Can't blame them to try to make money but I know
what I'm dealing with.. I just found some on eBay, and I see ...
rat combinations28 Jan 2007 10:07 GMT2
i have found that the combination of two neutered males plus a female seems
to be a great combo. there are no serious fights and they seem to groom each
other more often than usual.
Ducas28 Jan 2007 00:18 GMT4
I just thought I'd mention that we had to put our cat, Ducas, down today.
The reason I mention it here is that he has always been a friend of our
rats.  On many occasions, we would let him and the rats play, and they would
often groom each other.  One free range rat of ours, the ...
New rats.27 Jan 2007 22:20 GMT4
Just posting to say that we adopted 6 rats today. We now have a total
of 14 rats... eek! There was a big rat rescue in my area, some 120 or
so rats, including pinkies, were taken in. So we decided to adopt some.
As yet they haven't been named, and all of them are males.
Ping Bevluvsrats re Mycoplex dosage27 Jan 2007 10:15 GMT20
We've had our fair share of surgeries for tumour removal recently,
almost all with complications after the fuzzy butts have ripped their
own stitches out come what may.
So, I figure it can't hurt to supplement such treatment in the future

I have my eye on a particularly handsome looking bun bun at the SPCA.

Strange behavior (kind of long)24 Jan 2007 03:37 GMT11
My main question is: should I be worried that my rats spend their time
either fighting, harassing each other constantly, or sleeping in
separate parts of the cage?
Some background. Last June I adopted 2 male rats from a local breeder.
UK Petstores23 Jan 2007 09:23 GMT2
One of my friends on MySpace just commented on my page saying that the
sale of animals in petstores in the UK is being made illegal this year.
Anyone here able to elaborate?
