At last  :)31 Jul 2007 03:22 GMT3
At last we have a companion for Mater.  His name is Silber.  He is a
beautiful pale grey colour.  We got him from the Pet Shop. They didn't
know how old he was, as he was one of a litter taken from the SPCA.  I
don't believe they were all from one litter though.  There was a ...

my rats are too ordinary for this thing but it would have been nice to meet

Rat Issues27 Jul 2007 15:52 GMT6
As I posted here before, but knowing that there is a good chance you
don't remember, I have two albino rats named Fin and Munch for little
over a year now. They are wonderful---their personalities are totally
different and at the same time they usually get along. Fin is the
Advice on cages needed.27 Jul 2007 04:15 GMT13
I'm looking at buying my rats a cage (it's actually a dog crate) that
has spacing between the bars of 1 inch (2.5cm). The bars run
vertically.  Is this spacing too large for adult rats?
Here's a link to the cage:

I hate to say it, but Tyche went and visited her brothers. I'd heard
funny little squeaks and assumed (wrongly I now know) that the young
ones were wrestling. It now appears that Tyche was doing other things.
I checked and there is evidence of sexual activity.

I think I have just been insulted. I emailed a woman who rehomes
rescue rats, to offer myself as a potential home for rescues, and
after she checked my website (blog?) sends me back an email with this
in it "...Based on your comments on your website, I suspect that you

I just got the boys out to spend some time with them coz they were
trashing their joint, and when I looked, looked at them I noticed that
they weren't 'babies' any more! They have apparently 'grown up'
overnight. Maybe someone swapped the babies for grown ups when I
How can this be?18 Jul 2007 00:37 GMT9
Today we went out to get Mater a companion now that he is on his own.
Would you believe there is not a Rat to be had in this town.  I have
never heard of it.  Apparently there hasn't been any available for a few
months and there is now a waiting list???? Can't tell if thats a ...
Dylan's turn17 Jul 2007 21:37 GMT6
While Casey hasn't fully recovered from his sugery yet (he's doing fine
BTW), now apparently it was Dylan's turn. :-(
A week ago I discovered a lump on Dylan's right side, just before his hind
leg. It was already pretty big, so I took him to the vet that same day. I
Toys, Treats and Bedding16 Jul 2007 12:30 GMT8
Hey guys, I wanted to have everyone talk about these topics so that everyone
can get other ideas to try on their pets... So, let everyone know what your
little buddies favorite toy and treat is, and what bedding he
uses/likes/dislikes.

Lost rat!16 Jul 2007 03:33 GMT6
I've just had the most terrible fright -- I was too tired to pay the
rats any proper attention yesterday, and when I came in this evening, I
discovered the top of the cage open (either it had been ajar for two
days, or the rats, like their predecessors, had discovered how to push
There's a rat in my shirt.16 Jul 2007 03:30 GMT7
Despite it being 500 degrees in Memphis, TN, I now have a dark gray
boy rat named Spin inside my sweatshirt and outside my teeshirt.  So
far so good!!!  But Jo-Jo is all kinds of mad not to be the rat
outside the cage tonight.  I'll give him a graham cracker and we'll
