Introducing Riley29 Jan 2008 16:14 GMT2
Well we lasted 2 days.  I couldn't stand seeing Silber so down :(  So we
went round all the pet shops today and could only find 1 ratty boy for
sale.  He is tiny and I was shocked and suggested to the guy that
perhaps he was too young to leave his Mum. (Riley has no fur on his
Prayers for a speedy transition needed please22 Jan 2008 21:48 GMT6
I just wanted to ask those of you who believe in the afterlife, to send
prayers for our Mater as he is slipping away from us. I think he knows
he is leaving here too as he will not go into the igloo he just lies
outside it.  Silber is hyper and restless so I think he may know
Rat ear infection?21 Jan 2008 22:48 GMT15
Hi guys.  So last week, Buster started smelling funny.  Yesterday, while
we were out of town, our son reported that he had a bump in his ear.
Tonight when we got home, what he has in his ear is like a bloody scab.
I'm going to try to get a pic of it and I'll post a link to the
New Rat?21 Jan 2008 01:12 GMT15
Well, dispite everything all my friends say, I believe when I return home I
will begin looking for a new rat to join Scoot.  As nice as it is to have
less mess to clean up, Scoot does seem a bit sad, and since my daily schedule
doesnt seem to be changing anytime soon, I'll have to ...
Dylan, 28 Jun 2005 - 14 Jan 200817 Jan 2008 23:20 GMT5
Last week Dylan's thusfar minor respiratory problems took a turn for the
worse. By Saturday he was sicker than I've ever seen a rat, not wanting/not
able to eat or drink at all. Naturally I rushed him to the vet, who examined
him extensively, and gave him an injection which ought to ...
Old Rat and New Rat16 Jan 2008 02:21 GMT1
We've just rescued a rat (Marlon). He was in a very sorry state when he
arrived, but has now perked up and nice and clean. He's a male and, I
would guess, about 6 months old - we've had him only a few days. We're
now thinking of getting him a friend. Will Marlon be likely to get ...
Spooked rats15 Jan 2008 17:17 GMT10
Do anyone else's rats get spooked? I've seen it a couple of times with the
boys I have at the moment, and a few times with the girls I had. It seems
to be when they're frightened by something sudden they're not expecting.
The other day, one of my boys jumped down from the top ...
how much do you know about rodents?14 Jan 2008 16:00 GMT4
I've put online a small quiz with some corious questions to test your rodent
knowledge. You find it at:

How much do you score? ;)
Crazy Chester, 07 Oct 2004 - 10 Jan 200813 Jan 2008 23:16 GMT6
This afternoon my boy Chester was put to sleep. :'( He had grown so thin,
had a small sorta tumor on his side, a permanently sore eye, and the last
week he had suffered from a kinda anxiety attack a couple of times. In other
words: it was his time. He has lived up to a truely ...
Christmas has died11 Jan 2008 03:33 GMT8
I'd taken her out of the Mansion coz she was staggering. Put her on my
bed for some r&r while I did stuff and kept checking on her. Still
bleeding, well, seeping blood anyway. Left her alone and when I went
back to check her about 5pm I found her all sprawled out in the
Now that could only happen to me11 Jan 2008 02:08 GMT11
I've been bitten on the lip....by myself.
Doowie has a thing about feet, he caught me a really sore one on my toe
I was that surprised I bit my lip, both bites bleeding and amazingly
stinging.

Not my style of humour, but some of these are actually quite funny... I
particularly like the coathanger-rat, and the rat who appears to be
pushing his owner out of the picture!
Both now using wheel08 Jan 2008 04:12 GMT8
both my ratties are now using the wheel I put in there a week ago.  I
thought I'd have to take it back because it's one of those huge chinchilla
sized ones and it wasn't cheap.  But now they're going like gangbusters in
it.  Didn't even have to show 'em how.
Poop, Anti-social and Weirdness05 Jan 2008 08:36 GMT6
Hey guys, as some of you know I just got a new rat.  My question for everyone
is what is your experience with rats who poop all the time.  I dont mean in
the cage (as that's normal I think), but when you pick them up.  I am annoyed
because I cant hold the new rat Filbert even for 2 ...
Is it just me or...03 Jan 2008 02:01 GMT27
Am I nuts in thinking that rats are not disposable pets? When you take
in an animal, it should be a life long commitment, not when it becomes
inconvenient to you. :(
