Keeping My New Friend Happy23 Jun 2008 09:41 GMT3
Hi, I have a new grey and white male rat (sitting on my shoulder now)
named Earl and would like to know  what toys I would need to keep him
happy, and something for him to chew, maybe wood. I also would like to
know what size cage is best for two male rats (I intend on getting a
bruxing?20 Jun 2008 04:23 GMT1
My ratties do sort of a hiccupping thing when I pet them.  They aren't
grinding their teeth, but their bodies sort of jerk in a rhythmic way.  It
seems to be something they do when they are content.  Anyone know the name
of this?
Bertha update14 Jun 2008 04:15 GMT13
Surgery went well. She doesn't bother the stitches (is this unusal?)
She's working off the weight quiet nicely. The foster lady
(sortakinda) was only familiar with hampsters...so bertha got a
lardish on hampster feed. The temporary cage we are using came with
Set a rat to catch a rat09 Jun 2008 09:20 GMT1
Cecily is usually quite easy to catch when she is out of her cage; Julie
tends to duck back under the bed/into a drawer at the last minute. But
oddly enough, if I catch Cecily first, hold her in one hand, and bring
her down towards Julie's face, I can usually pick Julie up with my ...
Well, dang it bertha!09 Jun 2008 05:22 GMT7
Some how she went and degloved the last third of her tail. No vet
available until tomorrow. This is going to be ugly as Bertha is still
traumatized, defensive and VERY aggressive.

Since Diego Died....04 Jun 2008 15:36 GMT2
There is some very interesting behavior amongst my boys. Usually they are
all so independent and even sleep in separate places a good part of the
time. But since Diego died, I have found them all piled together in one tiny
box, all together. They barely fit. They are so smart. I ...
Rat prozac-rat litter-personality traits-raterminology04 Jun 2008 03:18 GMT5
Hi everyone. Wow it has been quiet lately.
So I have a few questions.
What is the name of the rat prozac we can give to our rats if they are
hyper and cranky? Where do I find it and what is the dose and how do you
My Diego just passed04 Jun 2008 03:15 GMT3
We are in shock. There were no warnings. He was fine this morning, then
after a quick trip to the store, where I just got them a bag of nut goodies
for a treat. I went to  the cage and he was in the igloo with just his back
legs splayed out. He appeared to be asleep. I gave Pichu ...
Yikes!  A Rat Came in Through The Toilet!  Need Advice!03 Jun 2008 12:17 GMT1
Little fellow was there this morning.  He hopped out and scampered
between the vanity and the wall so I couldn't get to him.  I left him
a cookie, closed the door (I have two cats) and went to work.  I set a
trap tonight  that will hopefully catch him.  It's a tapered tube that
Rescue01 Jun 2008 04:56 GMT2
Rescued a large (fat 5-7mo) black hooded female. Apparently she was
left in an appartment for 1-2 weeks. Poor thing, I know. Not my first
rescue BUT she is the first rat I've had that was not just a biter but
an agressive biter.
